Ha! She's leaving him alone.
D.o.S. wrote:Also, gonna voice an unpopular opinion and say three months is long enough for someone to be out of a relationship and therefore fair game. But I'm not the biggest proponent of monogamous, committed relationships, so my take is probably skewed.
I'm not opposed to her dating or getting out there at all. I certainly have been! What I am opposed to is my main friend who comes to my house every day asking her out and 'forgetting' to tell me for three consecutive days and then talking corny bullshit when I ask him what's the deal. He has ex girlfriends. Some are gorgeous. But I do fine and get my own women from outside of the pool of my friends' exes. He's capable of the same so I have no idea why he sought out my ex.

Maybe I'm weird because I'm from Boise. It's a much larger town now but when I was young it was damn near literally impossible to hook up with a chick that some dude I knew hadn't already fucked. It grossed me out quite frankly. So when I moved to a city more than ten times the size I said never again. And I haven't because there's just no need. I don't need to be where my friends have been and I certainly don't wish to be any agent of hurt even if it's unintentional. I certainly don't want a virgin or anything (but strangely my last two LTR's were) I'd just rather not know the last guy(s) personally.

I have different views on dating ex's of friends. My biggest pet peeves are those who do it without telling their friend and those who act as if the women they have dated are some how their property and I need permission to do so. Not in any means implying this is how you view your ex's. If I have an ex, it's for a good reason(s). If my friends want to persue them I have no reason to say no or give a shit and even if I did object I can't do anything about it anyway. If there are lingering feelings still I may not be ok with it but it isn't my place to say. I dealt with a similar situation like this but I was talking to a friend's ex. I told him about it and it went fine. Or so it seems.

Either way, I would talk it out with him, specially if he is a good friend and make him understand that what he did is shitty. If they are happy together then you should be happy for them. If they end up being miserable and having a shitty break up then it's bitter sweet for you haha. Shit like this just isn't worth the stress though.

Too true too true. Hoping to start coming on here regularly. I have been indulging in Hunter S Thompson books at work. That and nerding out on Zerohedge.com. Need to make time to talk about gear so I can get gas and go broke quickly.

Got the Monolith wired up last night. so far I'm stoked with how it sounds. Big improvement over that MG enclosure which I think was smothering the speakers in there. loaded it with 2 Altec 417-8h's, a g12k100 and a swamp thing. if thats to bright I'll swapp out one or both of the Altecs. All thats left is to make a speaker grill.

Tell me about Swamp Thangs. I've been thinking about swapping out the Webers in one of my Emperor cabs with some.

Big low end, mild scoop, highs aren't too brittle, and very loud. But when pushed hard they sound like blocking distortion in an amp. Had them in my Emperor 4x12 and FAR prefer the WGS ET65's.

I just listened to mine and it is pretty bad. Wondering if Brutal Panda messed up the press and will make it right.
conky wrote: I emailed them and they said that there was nothing with the records and that they were sped up 5 bpm so that they would fit at 45rpm. When I asked why they didn't just run it at 33 and leave the songs the same tempo and why my record has no low end they didn't reply. I waited a few days and asked what they were gonna do about my shitty sounding record and they never replied again. I know what label I won't be buying anymore merch from from now on. Fuck those guys right up their asses with a jackhammer.

I just got my copy and was really excited, then read this about 30 seconds after I opened the package. BUMMER. I bought my copy directly off the band though, because I wanted to support them, so I'm not in a twist about it.

In other news, I really want a Soldano, but I have no money to spend freely. I've got a chunk of $$ squirreled away, but it's been earmarked for Dunwich pedals since Nick told me about the tourbox like a year ago. I think I'm going to start building an Esquire instead, since I can do it on the cheap. Just trying to figure out what parts/pickup I want to use and if I want to try to build the neck or just buy a Mighty Mite or All Parts one or something.

My Mini arrived today. It's amazing.

The Depths should arrive tomorrow. I will post a similarly detailed review.

That is all.

Hmmmm, I want something that will have lots more low end without being flabby, and tame some of the highs a little bit. I figured they would work well. I'm wondering now if some Eminence Legends would be more what I'm looking for.

Do it. The money is well worth it. I always said I'd never pay over a grand for an amp and ended up paying over twice that for a Soldano and don't regret it one bit.

yeah skip nailed it. I like em for their smoother sounding characteristics. Messed with it a bit and I think I will pull one of the Altecs. really sounding good, but a bit to bright.

OK, I've been putting it off but I think it's time to retube the 1200s. When I had it in for a tune up Brian noted that they were not operating anywhere close to 100%. I think they are the originals, So what are your thoughts on 6550's/KT88's/KT90's? Looking for clean headroom and longevity mostly.
