NICE. Really love that colour/pickguard/fretboard combo. And the bigass headstock. I wish fender put those on everything.

Thanks! I'm a big fan of the combo as well, and it contrasts with my all black tele nicely. And yeah fender needs to put the BAH (big ass headstock) on errathin!!!!

warwick.hoy wrote:Damn Double AA. Love it. Neck from a Tele Deluxe?

Thanks budrow! Yes, yes it is. When I bid on it though it looked like the pickguard had been made to fit the new neck, but alas it wasn't luckily you can't tell unless you are right up on it.

This. Oversized Fender headstock is the BEST!

Danke! And agreed!!!

skullservant wrote:Got my Jazzmaster back in action tonight with this maple neck. Got it off eBay for cheaps, its from a 2003 Fender Strat. Had to clean the neck pocket quite a bit and get out 2 layers of paint that had been applied to the neck pocket so I could get the neck to sit nice and flush. HUGE, DRASTIC improvement in the action after the paint was scraped out, the paint was acting like a giant shim because of it's thickness. Completely IN LOVE with this neck. It's got the same shape as my Jaguar's neck, super comfortable, great quality. It's set up for pretty low and easy action which makes it a great player. Almost ZERO fretware on the neck which was even more killer. I'd always wanted a maple-necked Jazzmaster, finally my dream has come true!

I'm glad it worked out buddy!!! Told you you'd like that neck!!! :yay: I do love the aesthetic of the guitar now, totally new age rat rod to the extreme.

I'm definitely digging the Standard Strat sized headstock on thar!

All this mixing and matching makes me want to put something together.

That's why i've started LOVING fenders as of late. If they don't make what you want they are so interchangeable that YOU can build it with a lil bit of time and skill.

skullservant wrote:Yeah it's the weirdest guitar ever, from the pickup configuration and how they interact with each other, to now the maple fretboard, along with all the cosmetic stuff.
The pickup wiring is awesome in that you've got a standard jazzmaster neck pickup, and then a humbucker, but in the middle position they go out of phase so you get this almost cocked wah type sound with a lot less bass that sounds KILLER

Yeah I want to pay off some things first before I get a WRHB in there, but that's the plan eventually, I think. Now I'm almost torn as to which guitar to use for my set this weekend!

Are you wanting to put a CuNiFe WRHB in there or just one of the Alnico/Ceramic Reissues or Lollar Regal etc?

Original CuNiFe/Telenator WRHBs are like $450.....A POP!!!

A little to rich for my blood.

I really don't have issues with the RI WRHBs in my TeleD, I just wonder if it's a $900 difference in tone.

There are cheaper options.

Thinking about a Novak or Creamery Jazzmaster sized WRHB. Both of them are around $150ish though, I don't know if it's silly to sink even more money into the guitar at this point when I like it just fine. Although Novak also does have the Jazzmaster 180 which is two stacked P90's in a Jazzmaster cover, which sounds like it would be AWESOME for the same price

That sounds awesome. My understanding is that a Jazzmaster Pickup =/= a P90.

The differences,...I don't know. I know I like a nice hot P90 though.

Jazzmaster pickups and P90's sound pretty similar. I've got a hot Jazzmaster pickup in the neck right now that sounds pretty good. It's a little more round and warm than a 90 and not as agressive as a P90. I think the main difference is the growl that P90's have. Other than that they are VERY similar

the telenator cunife is the shit. i put one in my 72 avri telecaster custom and it is worth every penny to me, quite the pup. also put two novak wrhb in my lee ranaldo sig jazzy and they sound damn fine too for alot less money. too lazy to swap em in/out of the tele for a comparison. for what its worth.

Imagei know this is not "ilovestrats" at all, but I love this guitar. It's a 85 mij that I got at a yard sale. I put the new guard on it yesterday cause I busted the old white one while banging on it :picard:

strats get a lot of undeserved disrespect. There are a lot of good tones up in there. Plus I like white with black pickguard better than black with white pickguard :thumb:
