Re: Strymon BigSky
for some reason I actually feel more excited to use this with piano than anything else
the phaser and trem and pattern trem though
sometimes I wonder whether I should have gotten rid of mine... I think i went in with the expectation that I'd get a ton of cool sounds out of the quadrature/destroyer modes but they probably disappointed me the most... plus that tiny delay between hitting the switch and hearing the effect got kinda annoying for how i use modulation.behndy wrote:..... i'm going to buy a Mobius again. Re: Strymon BigSky
maybe it's the initial shock of "Holy crap I just spent nearly $500 on one pedal this better sound like a dying Atari"
one thing I never understood though is why it has two less knobs than the TL (and now the BigSky too) even though every mode had enough extra parameters to justify them.

Re: Strymon BigSky
Yeah, the lack of knobs is upsetting on a mod pedal that deep even more so now that the Big Sky is out and stacked with controls. Add two more controls to Mobius and it could be all good, why u no do that Strymon?!?

Re: Strymon BigSky
lol. i want a software interface like the H9 and LESS knobs. but i don't twiddle live (CHANKKKKGYYYYY) unless it's with an expression pedal, so i don't mind a bit of menu diving at home.
yah. i had a Mobie, liked it, but was a little overwhelmed at having a bunch of Multi's so moved it. think i have a line on one for a decent price, so i'm hoping to have all three Strymy's by next week.
what helped me a lot, and i think the DMC Big Butts controller is going to streamline multiple Multi boxes control even more, but i went to a very strict filing system on the TL. i always keep the A as the same effect per bank, then the B is the song specific thingy. so now on the TL i always have a digital delay i like available, then hopefully i'm in the right bank for the delay i need for a song part, on the Bugger Sky Sky i'll put a good Nimbus sounding reverb for always grabbable then blah blah blah. probably use the ALWAYS spot as a trem for the Mobie.
but that helps me see the box as a THIS Plus One.

Re: Strymon BigSky
^ that seems like a really smart way of doing things. I get pretty intimidated with all these huge multi MIDI menu-diving funtime pedals but learning to use them all properly would probably let me cut down on a lot of things.
Also, do you know if the BigSky has that function the Mobius has where you can swap it between two places in the chain? I'm guessing not seeing as pre-dirt verb seems to mostly be an ILF thing..

Re: Strymon BigSky
Don't think the BigSky has that feature, the rear toggle is dedicated to the cab simulator instead. Strymon def missed the mark a little by not including that feature on all their multi pedals imo. Esp from an ILF perspective haha.backwardsvoyager wrote:^ that seems like a really smart way of doing things. Re: Strymon BigSky
yeah. i think that's missing. i probably wouldn't use it much, once things are setup they're setup for live stuff. i can barely keep track of pedal on offs, don't want to mess with routing too.
but the cab simulator does nothing for me.

The cab sim is what sold me on it. Im trying to go all DI. Im hoping it sounds good enough to just run into a preamp and into my computer. But after a looper doesnt seem the best route...still going to do it. The cab sim will still work even when bypassed right?

Pretty sure the cab filter is an 'always on' type of thing when engaged.
