Re: The spite, hate, rage, apathy and mild irritation thread
Tonight I went out to dinner with a foreign exchange student and then we went on a walk in a park. While we were walking this guy comes over to us and asks us if we live in the neighborhood, I say "No" (I live in the next one over i.e. across the street). He then said "what are you doing in this park" I was unsure if he was some sort of park security and the park was close at night, he wasn't close enough for me to really see him yet, so he was yelling. I told him we were just enjoying the night out. He then yelled "Bullshit, you need to get out of here or I'll call the cops and that's a polite warning!" he then crossed the street and turned around and looked at us "Just because she's gone doesn't mean I'm not still here." he yelled. Needless to say we left the park at a casual pace and went home.
This is the first time something like this has happened to me, where I live. I called the police after we left the park and my friend said that if you looked in his eyes you could tell he was crazy. I'm guessing he thought I was some one else, it really shook me up.
Really really strange.
If it happens again with the same guy I'll let him call the cops and have them handle it.

River Forest. The guy was in a Depaul Sweatshirt too.
I hope he wasn't doing it just to get his kicks.

DAMMIT I WAS GOING TO GO TO BED, THEN BOBS BURGERS CAME ON.
Seriously, Adult Swim putting Bob's Burgers on is like the best thing ever. This is the happiest post I've ever put in this thread.
Also, I got accepted to Depaul, but my parents (really my dad, my moms a teacher) made too much money, but didn't give enough financial aid for me to get the necessary funding to go to a private Jesuit school, not that I wanted to (Marquette waitlisted me, bitches)
SOMETHING IN THIS POST WAS EDITED IN AND I DONT REMEMBER WHAT

Squier bass vi (which isn't even very expensive so I'll hopefully get one fairly soon anyway), I'd also love an aluminium guitar but it'll be a while before I can afford that without screwing myself over.chasingfear wrote:What kinda geetar?monkeydancer wrote:I've got money sitting around right now because I need to buy a car, but there's this nagging temptationg to sack it off, buy a guitar and either get a much shittier car or no car at all. Maths is awesome. I think it is entirely correct to blame the school system - what other subject (especially one that is essential to most human activity in some way or form) is taught with in principle the same pedagogy as our grandparents were taught with? It's the only subject that is met with the "well, I had to take maths once upon a time too" attitude, where there is no pressure to actually achieve anything as it is in the too hard basket from the beginning.Twangasaurus wrote:Yeah, and I listen to so much math rock as well so I must be good at maths, right?dubkitty wrote:i hates teh maths, which is weird because music is so mathematical. i guess i only like math that comes to me naturally. It annoys me because I also find it very rewarding but I just don't have the patience. If you can learn something abstract like an instrument, or a system of syntax, or get your way around a computer, then you can learn maths - there is nothing fundamentally difficult about it. Abstract - yes. Strange? Yes. Difficult? No.

Next time someone asks if you are any good at maths, fuzz it out and tell them you are doing some Fourier analysis.

I love Day9, but I feel like it takes him wayyyy too long to get to the point in all his "story time" vids. However,
