He can do stock and mostly stock stuff pretty fast.

What's the deal with all of the Travis Bean labeled stuff? It's one thing to make tribute guitars but his clones are a little too close. I wonder when we'll see people trying to selling them or the pickups as if they were authentic vintage models.

Those Beans are a project they've been working on recently. They were hired to produce those, think they're prototypes being assessed for a production run. Saw Kevin address it in a FB post just the other day.

yeah at some point a few years ago he was meant to be producing 'reissue' travis bean basses, with the permission of mr. bean himself.

The combined (frying pan?) back and neck is the design from the 90s Beans, when TB tried to resurrect the company. Few were made (I think Kevin has most of them) and they were really expensive. EGC must see something in the design, and the bonus of reissuing those ones, is that they won't be confused with the 70s originals. Anyway, since they're true to Travis' design and being produced under license, they aren't clones but in fact new TBs.

I guess they'll be more affordable and maybe even raise the price of the originals since it might bring more attention to them from a new generation. I just don't care for the move. Is a Stradivarius still the same if it has been officially licensed to someone 300 years after his death even if they go to great lengths to copy the materials and techniques? I'd say no. It might be a great guitar and maybe even better but if I want a Bean, I want one made by Travis.

I totally get where you're coming from man, I'd want a 70s Bean too, because I prefer those designs, and part of the allure is the rarity and the history there.
When I ordered my EGC I did go for the Bean doublecut shape, but I also wanted it to be fully aluminium, its own kinda beast.

But is a modern Gibson really a Les Paul? All those little changes over the years... people die, designs and companies endure.

At least this is a copy of an actual Bean design that's relatively recent. Not sure if it's got the little refinements that Kevin adds to EGCs to make them a bit more playable (neck relief, radiusing etc).

I would just prefer to see Kevin focus his talents on moving forward rather than making more of something that's already been done.

This shit really makes it worse man. Like when you know dudes capable of turning out something awesome in no time at all, to the correct specs. I mean I'm glad to see that egc can turn shit out in a reasonable amount of time, to the correct specs, but i like that this dude ordered, paid for, changed specs, and took delivery of a guitar in like a fraction of the time that several members on her have had paid up orders placed.

Fender was never that kind of maker. It was mass produced as efficiently and cheaply as possible on an assembly line. Hell, Leo didn't even play or really care for the guitar all that much. Having a Travis Bean to me, like a lot of small boutique makers out there means getting that handmade, personalized instrument.
