Re: Let's see your AMP!
Found a good deal on CL for an older non reverb Blackstar HT-5.

I didn't have high expectations for the amp. Something that sounds better than the Pignose G40V I was rolling with. It's exceeded those expectations by far. Nice little tube practice/recording amp; sounds decent with pedals.
Currently using it to push a bass cab (well it used to be a SS glorified practice bass amp, but I gutted the amp and soldered up an input jack to the speaker and there you go) for a nearly baritone tuned guitar (Drop B) and with a Sadowsky Preamp/DI it makes a very serviceable low powered bass amp.
Next up will be sourcing a more appropriate cab. Likely a Single 12 from Avatar with a speaker yet to be determined.

Re: Let's see your AMP!
Oh trust me I'll do it. I'll buy a 2x12 cab and put a bass driver and a guitar driver in there.
That was just a friendly poke at a certain group of knowitalls.

I'm using more bass than guitar cabs right now. Dude at a show complimented my sound and said to me "wait till you can get some guitar cabs!"
I laughed.

Some people never learn....

I used to love the "why are you using a bass amp for guitar" guys, as if it can only be used for exactly what the label says. I usually respond with "so I can crank it up loud enough to not hear the idiots talk about shit they know nothing about."

I tend to go with more of a theme. Which is, loud. These are all loud amps. Everyone should always be upping their game.

I don't know... once you get used to bass cabs with guitar amps guitar speakers while more "normal" sounding might not be as thick as the bass cabs seems
I've found that using a "guitar" amp with a bass cab pretty much exactly nails the sound I want on bass. I never went for that super deep tubby sound. I'm all grind and mids, so it suits me perfectly. When I play through an actual "bass" amp nowadays, it either sounds muffled and dead or hifi and piercingly clean.

Re: Let's see your AMP!

just got this giant off of Craigslist. the dude ( a super cool guy ) who put it up listed it as a "project" and it was free! i took it apart, found half of the dumb molex connectors had yanked apart. plugged them back together, soldered a couple wires, and it works

i dont have a 2ohm cab rated for 800w, so ill have to wait to see how loud it really is.
it looks freakin massive, but if you look inside there's just two pcb's, two huge caps, and a 25lb transformer. its totally empty.
