I was more excited about that than the Ditto because of it being stereo (and less expensive) but got tired of waiting. I wish they wouldn't announce things so far in advance.

Timebender also does the handy freeze function, which I've been abusing a ton with Mr. Dubkitty.

that freeze function is awesome, and keeps me from having to have any EHX pedals on my board


I think this was mentioned but the frustrations with a delay/looper is you can't loop your delay tones,
I usually start loops with a delay and reverb on so if I just had a delay/looper I would lead a very sad life

I really love the DD7's looper and I love the DL4's looper.
Those two are the best that I've found if you use a ton of dirt. Worth getting the volume drop fixed on the DL4 and putting some soft touch switches in there for longevity, but damned if those two aren't an awesome combo. This is after trying the Infinity, the TimeLine, RC20XL, RC2, DD7, DL4, and I might be forgetting a few

I love my Line 6 M9, which contains the looper of the DL4 but can add fx. I also like the RC-20XL but really missed the play-once of the DL4.

My guitarist just got a Ditto and its super cool. I will probably get a Ditto to supplement my M9. This will allow me to "re-loop" the rhythmic creations I make on the M9 and dedicate to the Ditto for later with minimum hassle and real estate.

If I were you and just getting a flavor for looping, I'd start with the Ditto and figure out what you're looking for. Nice, simple, small, stereo, cheap. Keep it forever. Otherwise buy a used DL4 as cheap as possible.

Wisdom, y'all. This is why I asked. TC Ditto ordered, $$$ spare for more gooder dedicated delay. (Or more likely, EQD Butt Commander.)

I'd start with the Ditto and figure out what you're looking for. Nice, simple, small, stereo*, cheap.

If by "stereo," you mean "mono," then, yes, it is.

My problem with TCE looper/delay loopers is that the switches are clicky, tbp-style, which throws off my timing.

A couple people complained about not being able to use delay while using looper mode on some pedals; this is not true of the DL4, DelayLab, or X4.



Honestly, I think the Boomerang+ would be the perfect looper for me, if a bit large. But I've never tried it, and they seem to go for a bit more than I feel like a pedal that old should. Maybe I'll sell some things and snag one someday.

Dude, how does the DD7 compare to the RC2? I had the RC2 and found it impossible to time the loops right, and the whole stomp twice to stop thing or whatever shat me. But I like Boss delays...

Exactly the reason I bought a headrush to replace the DD-20's simple looper that I had been using. Its just to cumbersome to use the "press this twice" "this once" "to over dub hold this down" "to erase everything and have dead silence, look at it funny" etc...

I've been really enjoying my headrush though. Simple as hell, and tougher than a mother. I do wish it had a few more features, and my delay usage is still all with the DD-20, but it's been the greatest riff writing and practice tool for me in a loooooong time.

Okay so after having a DL4 for all of about half an hour now I totally understand the hype. Definitely the most fun/intuitive looper I've ever used.
Now to mod it before something breaks.

Looping on the DD7 is super simple:
Once for record (red blinking LED) / once again for playback (green LED).
Once for overdub (orange LED) / once again to stop overdub (green again).
Double tap to stop, OR you can use a "tap tempo" switch to have a dedicated stop button.


All this DL4 talk makes me want a Drap'd DL4. Retriggering and loop manipulation sound awesome but it sucks that it's only 14 second in "standard" mode. I wanna half speed longer loooops. I miss being able to slow down loops like I could on the 2880, I should have never gotten rid of that.

The DD-7 is a pretty awesome pedal, it does a lot of cool shit in a small package.

If you want a good, big delay pedal and a looper, personally I'd get a dedicted delay and a dedicated looper.

... unless you get a Line 6 M9, which might be worth considering. That includes everything the DL4 has/does - and loads more. the looper time is shortish by modern standards though.

The vox delaylab is very good. even if used just as a dedicated delay it's very well priced.

i'd forget Strymon and eventide stuff. just far too expensive, and you say this is your first taste of a big delay pedal.

the vox delaylab is like a poorer man's Strymon/ Eventide.

i'd get the vox delaylab, then see how you get on with it and its looper and maybe get a dedicated, longer looper pedal later. or, get a M9.

re: dl4. no point in getting a dl4 imo. get a vox delaylab instead. or, getr a line 6 m5 or m9 - both have the dl4 delay stuff.

as a more compact yet extensive delay, i like the line 6 echo park. worth considering if footprint size is an issue. cheap used too.
