Sounds like my Fab fuzz I have. Don't get me wrong, its a dirty ass fuzz pedal and I love it, but the signal drop is occasionally annoying. Can't complain too much tho, it was only like $15 used. Might swap it out for my old muff tho. Or just run it as a softer fuzz along with the muff once I get more cables.

Yeah, that ain't right. I've owned two RV3s and neither did that.

Also whether or not a pedal is noisy in an effects loop isn't the fault of the maker, it depends on what level signal the loop puts out and how good it is.

Pedals in effects loops are usually bad.

I can switch my loop to instrument-level output.

Edit: Tried it with just a battery. Light doesn't go off, no sounds come out. Definitely something wrong. Getting my money back

actually, this is a common and well-known issue with the rv-3. i have 3 of them and they all do it. i've just learned to work around it by leaving it on.

actually, this is a common and well-known issue with the rv-3. i have 3 of them and they all do it. i've just learned to work around it by leaving it on.

Yeah, same here, it cuts out for a split second. It's not noticeable enough to bother me, not sure if the time it cuts out varies between pedals though.

Ok, sitting here with my RV-3 right now and... you're all right, there is a brief cut out of the signal.

It's subtle, and not enough to make any difference to me, but still, why the hell didn't I notice that before?

I hope it doesn't drive me insane now going forward. (which it very likely will)

Well; you seemed like you were ready to go get your money back,....which with GC,...you should definitely do. No need to explain yourself to them either, so long as you have the proper documentation yadda yadda yadda.

I was only asking cause I'm thinking about the RV-3/RV-5 hard the past few months. Usually with BOSS,...the later numbered pedals tend to be worse than their predecessors. PS-3/PS-5/PS-6 for example. Perhaps I'm misinformed,...but I had the PS-5 and it was shit. Most people told me to hold out for the PS-6 or get a PS-3.

So with that I was assuming the RV-3 was the one to go for,...but if there are timing issues with the pedal that are unlivable,...perhaps I need a rethink.

The RV-3 is a great pedal, I wouldn't call the issue unlivable as it is a really short dropout and it can easily be masked with your playing or by putting it earlier in the signal chain.

Haven't owned the RV-5 but it definitely sounds a lot different. I think you're right about the later pedals sounding worse than their predecessors, the only exception I can think of is the PS-6.
