I bought it for the clean headroom.

Congrats!
I use a DSL50 and really love it. There are a lot of lemons out there but the good ones are worth every cent IMO.
I only use the clean channel with the volume maxed. The deep switch is pretty great too.

I had a DSL 100 for a while and thoroughly enjoyed how it sounded. 50w is not much headroom to me, personally.

Re: I bought a JCM 2000 50w DSL
So this is my first Marshall. I have a Dr. Z Maz 38 with 2x10 cab and a SF Super Reverb, modded, and I've been looking at a Marshall head with 4x12 cab to add to it. I rarely get the Super into amp OD territory and the Dr. Z sometimes runs on the edge of break-up but I mainly use pedals for those tones. I tried it with a 4x12 cab(1936 Vintage? 1960AV? I can't recall...) and it sounded amazing. I ran both my Cabronita and a Bass VI through it. The Bass VI really sounded amazing!
I also tried a 1987x but, I'll be honest, in the brief time I had with it I just couldn't dial in the sounded I wanted as easily as with the JCM 2000. That, coupled with the fact the JCM was 3x less than the 1987x, made it the winner. I'm excited to score a cab for it now, either a 4x12 Marshall or 2x12 Orange (I know the 2x12 works well with my Dr. Z too, and it's easier to move).
