Totally Revamping My Board

Post by travisb9 »

So I'm totally revamping my board. What are you guys' opinions on what my chain should be from my guitar? I use the DD7 as a looper as of now.

Tuner -> SD1 -> RAT -> Distortion+ -> Micro Flanger -> RV-3 - TR-2 -> EQD Dispatch Master -> Space Echo -> DD-7 -> Amp

I prefer flanger after dirt (or in the effects loop of an amp). I'm not sure whether to boost the RAT or boost using the RAT, so I'd put the SD-1 before the RAT and the MXR after to have a bit of both worlds. The same goes for the tremolo before AND after reverb.

I think I'd do this: dispatch master>rat>distortion+ >rv3>tr2>microflange>space echo>dd7

I think running the dispatch master first would get you more of the shoegazes, and sandwiching the tr2 and micoflange between some verb and delay should allow you to get some nice rythmic stuff going on.

Seriously though, just take everything off the board and try running everything into everything else. What works and what doesn't always surprises me when I do this.

SD-1 -> Dispatch Master -> RAT -> Dist+ -> Micro flanger -> Space Echo -> RV-3 -> TR-2 ->Tuner -> DD-7
is what I would do, putting the tuner there lets you kill your signal without having to worry about other pedals being turned off first, but you can still leave loops going on with the DD-7 while you tune.
i think flange sounds best post-dirt and trem sounds best post-verb but that's just me.

but yeah:

Also just got the EP Jr for volume swells. Would it be best to put it at the end or beginning?

Putting it last will allow you to fade and keep the volume on the delay repeats. First will allow you to control the gain of the dirt. I say put it last and keep your pinky for gain adjustment.or just run at 100% volume all the time.

Having a trem after reverb is great, it feels really choppy and rhythmic. I would do backwards voyager's order, but put the rat (or D+) after the flanger. 97% of the time I use flanger post dirt, but it almost sounds like an envelope filter behind some heavy distortion.

assuming no fx loop...

gtr >>> Tuner > SD1 -> Rat -> Dist+ > volume pedal > TR2 > Flanger > RV-3 > DD7 (looper) > Space Echo > EQD D.' Master > > amp

i like volume pedal post gain, if using for volume swells.

i've put one of the delay/reverbs before the looper, the others after it. so you can manipulate what's looped if you wish to.

the 3 delay/reverb you have are very interchangeable.

you need aome fuzz! :)
