SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
I was thinking of looking into building a power supply and have literally no idea where to start. This has probably already been discussed, and if so, I apologize for the double posting. My idea is to create a powerful power supply that could power several Metasonix units. It would have to have a HUGE amount of AC power to do this so, I'm not entirely sure it's even possible.
If it's not, it's still fun to imagine doing something like that.
Any idea where I could start? Or some schematic links that might lead me down the path I'm searching for?

Re: Crazy question
please post your requirements when asking a question like this. do all your metasonix pedals have the same power supply? can you post the specs from the user manual or whatever is written on the power supply?

Re: Crazy question
Yea I figured I was being kind of vague, but didn't know if it was even possible.
Here's the power requirements.
10-12 AC (only AC not AC to DC) 50 to 60 Hz
So looking at the manuals, all of the TM models seem to require the same amount of power.
Thanks guys!

Re: Crazy question
Without knowing the needed amperage, it's impossible to say. If all you need is AC power, then all that is required is a step down transformer.

Re: Crazy question
How do I figure the amperage out? Would that be listed somewhere as well? I'll try and figure it out.
I asked Eric from Metasonix and he said he could build me one. Maybe that would be the best solution. He said I'd need this http://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Ham ... %2fboi7Uvo

Should not be too difficult if all you want is AC step down.

Re: Crazy question
Smallbear sells a transformer for pedal power supplies. Has 8 outputs that are 11VAC @300mA, and one 9V@2A.
If they're under 300mA, that'd be perfect. You could also get several cheap 12V mains transformers and wire them up. They're pretty common and you can get 'em anywhere.
If it's running AC, it's literally just transformer to jack. You could add some fuses a small cap for high frequency filtering if you wanted, but otherwise there's not much to it.

It's way over 300 mA. The wall jack I have for the Metasonix is 1200 mA. I think they just require an enormous amount of power.
I was thinking about this the other day. I don't get why Metasonix or another builder of similar products wouldn't produce something like this. Seems like it would make them money.
Thanks for all the help guys! I'm going to keep investigating.
