$60 Torn's Peaker problem
Hi everyone
My Devi Ever $60 edition of the Torn's Peaker has now arrived in UK but I think some thing is majorly wrong. Before I go back to Devi Ever I want to be sure that i'm not being an idiot, hence asking you guys!
Right, using the pedal on its own, I press the on/off switch and this weird twitchy noise comes out the amp, it sounds like some sort of mashed up frequency. If I pick the TP up the hum/noise alters, as though the whole pedal is conducting something. Its really odd and I gotta say, I don't think it should be doing this! Underneath all this if I play the guitar I can hear some great fuzzed up sounds but above it all is the weird frequency noise - I don't get this with my Hyperion.
I'm using a Marshal valvestate VS100, Fender squire (modded with demarzio humbuckers), guitar man power supply brick, Planet wave guitar cables.
Advice much appreciated!!!

Thanks Ryan. It sure does sound bad doesn't it! I just sent email to Devi saying I think there's something up with the TP. I hope something can be done with it because underneath all that hum there sounds a really great pedal and I wanna get using it!

Re: $60 Torn's Peaker problem
Sounds like a grounding issue to me.
Have you taken the back off and had a look inside? If you haven't, I'd try that.
If you can't find anything loose or see anything that looks fucked, post a pic and maybe some one can find the problem.
Also, make sure when you are testing that it's the only pedal in the chain and that it has it's own power supply.
I think Devi is pretty good about taking care of problems with her stuff.
If you'd rather have someone in the UK have a look at it, I'd suggest Scruffie.

Hi Mec,
No, I've not took off the back yet. I've run it with just the TP in the chain and with only the pedal plugged into my power brick and the noise has still been there. I'll probably end up posting a pic as I'm not much cop with electronics!! I'll report back and thanks also for the UK contact regarding repairs.

Re: $60 Torn's Peaker problem
yeah thats not normal
open it up, if it's wrapped in tape (don't know if she still does that) unwrap it and post a pic of that as well as the jacks and power jack.

Hi
Well I took the back off and wtf, a garbage pail kid sticker inside!!??? Everything looked pretty well glued in place. There is something black which I wasn't keen on messing with. Here is a photo of the innards:

Just write Devi an email. She's real easy to communicate with that way.

Re: $60 Torn's Peaker problem
i've fixed a torn's peaker that had the exact problem. the problem in my case is that the wires were too close together and the circuit is so high gain that it was causing interference. try playing a note and then moving wires apart until it stops, if it does.
will help you!!
