So, I busted the output jack on my Hi Flier some time ago. After changing it, there was a very bad hum from the guitar. I assumed I fucked up the ground wire or something, so I redid that thinking that would take care of the hum. But it didn't. I now noticed that the hum also disappears when I turn down the volume. So I think the problem is somewhere 'before' the volume knob. Any ideas what it could be? Bad switch? That would be really weird since I didn't touch the switch when changing output jacks
did you reverse the positive and negative leads somewhere in the wiring process? might a wire have gotten too close to a component, especially a potentiometer or the capacitor on the tone control, or did the cap get bent over so it's touching a live component?
