The message quoted below was just PM'd to me twice, from jesuismarie, who doesn't work for Minoan. After reintroducing me to this thread, which I'd totally forgotten about, I guess she handed the keyboard over to Katerina from Minoan. :idk:

I'm not deleting this thread, as 1) It began as an innocent question, 2) Is just natural, organic user-generated content and opinions (see: Yelp, Yahoo Local Reviews, and The Internet)...anyone is welcome to form their own opinion of Minoan. and 3) It wasn't being bumped antagonistically, and had totally died before being resurrected by jesuismarie.

But since the issue at hand is user-generated content, I guess I'll post it here for the users who are generating this content. You guys are upsetting "Roger O'Donnell of The Cure, Warren Cuccurullo of Duran Duran, Steve Ferrone of Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers and multi-platinum producer Anthony Resta (Collective Soul, Blondie, Scissor Sisters, Perr Farrell, etc.)."

jesuismarie wrote:Hello Tom, I hope you're well.

There is a thread on this site that has totally gone out of control slamming a prominent company I work with and it's owners, and it's really become a nuisance. Since I've been defending them and am already logged in, one of admins at Minoan Music asked if I could pass this on to you for deletion of the thread. It's all totally legit, no scamming, they represent major artists like Iggy Pop, and work with everyone from Atlantic Records to Paramount Pictures, and all of their info is online and below. Please consider deleted the thread, as it really lowers the credibility of your site with so many amateurs making immature comments, and frankly, it's pissing everyone off as they've had to explain to new clients what all this is about! Here is Katerina from Minoan Music:

Hi Tom. Our company Minoan Music has been around for over 10 years, and has built up a credible reputation across the board in all facets of the industry. This thread has moved into the absurd, and I would appreciate it if you would delete it. The guy who started the board was never a client. In fact, we spent a lot of extra time with him explaining details, and even offered him a discount for our work to help him out. We do that a lot for Indie artists that could use a hand. We sent him paperwork, he agreed that he wanted to do it and was excited, and then posted this thread. Unfortunately it does happen, but once immature amateurs get into the mix, it becomes a free for all, and it's inappropriate that something like this should be on public display worrying clients. We've never had a complaint, we work with Indies and Majors, and you can get a taste of our clientele and catalogue of music from these links:

Our owner Eric is a prominent musician and industry person, writing articles for publications such as Recording Magazine, and is a member of supergroup Electrons with Roger O'Donnell of The Cure, Warren Cuccurullo of Duran Duran, Steve Ferrone of Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers and multi-platinum producer Anthony Resta (Collective Soul, Blondie, Scissor Sisters, Perr Farrell, etc.). Unfortunately their camps have also been irritated by this thread, so everyone would appreciate it if you could kindly remove. I've added some more bits on them below. You can see some photos from a recent recording session as well:

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at krhodou@minoanmusic.com, and please let me know when the thread has been deleted so that I can let everyone know.

Thanks again, and have a great week.

Best regards,

Kat Rhodou
Minoan Music

ELECTRONS are:

STEVE FERRONE [composer, producer, drummer and percussionist]: Mick Jagger, George Harrison, Duran Duran, Aretha Franklin, Bee Gees, Johnny Cash, Michael Jackson, B52's and Average White Band are just some of the names on an endless list of musicians Ferrone has played with. Currently a member of Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, he remains as one of the most in-demand, and talented, studio drummers in the world today.

WARREN CUCCURULLO [composer, songwriter, guitarist, producer and multi-instrumentalist]: Having first joined Frank Zappa's band at age 21, Cuccurullo is a musical prodigy. He is a founding member of the New Wave group Missing Persons, having written such classics as "Destination Unknown," "Walking In L.A,” and "Words.” Warren was also a member of Duran Duran for 15 years, performing and writing on several albums, and co-writing such hits as "Ordinary World" and "Come Undone.”

ANTHONY J. RESTA [composer, producer, songwriter, mixer, and multi-instrumentalist]: Situated in his Studio Bopnique Musique "musical laboratory", Resta is well-known for his outstanding ability in the art of producing and songwriting. Having worked magic with artists such as Collective Soul, Elton John, Duran Duran, Blondie, Sarah McLachlan, Guster, Megadeth, Extreme, and more, he is always cultivating both fresh talent and breathing new life
into established acts.

ROGER O'DONNELL [composer, producer, synthesist]: Having been born into a musical family, and best known for his stand-out contributions to legendary group The Cure, O'Donnell's unparalleled approach to Electronic composition and collaboration with artists such as David Hockney to The Psychedelic Furs has yielded an incredibly diverse and unique body of work. O'Donnell has managed to carve out a niche for himself within the Electronic and Classical genres, not only making waves at U.S. college radio, but also resulting in live orchestral performances of his work.

ERIC ALEXANDRAKIS [composer, vocalist, producer and multi-instrumentalist]: Classically trained since the age of 6, and discovered by Duran Duran's John Taylor, Alexandrakis is a successful composer whose original songs have been actively licensed to all forms of media. A pioneer in digital copyright protection [Alexandrakis produced the first digitally watermarked CD while in graduate school (technology developed by bluespike.com)], he is also an acclaimed Indie artist, entering the top 40 radio charts in the Adult Contemporary genre several times in his career.

Thanks for the PSA, Mr. Dalton.

No one here would've remembered this thread if it hadn't been bumped.

Smells fishy, not carroty

Post by rustywire »

The repeated, vague attempts at explanation, hyperbolic editorializing and history revision have set off my BS detector.

And as for the thinly-veiled threats......way to establish credibility!

If everyone of those megastars' camps is so up in arms about this thread (as claimed), then how come only someone who appears to be a blatant company shill has chosen to directly address it on their behalf?

They're welcome to speak up for themselves; as the discretion card seems to have been a bluff.
And if it isn't, does anyone here think they'd be pleased with a *seems legit* business dropping their names and dragging them through the mud to save its own face?

:idk:

No word from them after 8 months...
But why have 7 months elapsed between antagonistic shill posts, with no other word of this outrage; meanwhile there still seems to be a lack of references and knowledge base on this operation, that is outside of the company's line and limited facebook presence.

But let me make this clear: the internet cant be threatened or intimidated.
It's counterproductive to do so and you only invite the wrath of countless lowlifes with nothing but time on their hands.
Nuisances are not libel (not slander, read a book) and neither have taken place here.

The only real damage to reputation has been self-inflicted. Well done.

Also, I'd hardly call that a supergroup. I'm gonna sue them for false advertising.

The only one of the bunch who ever had any cred was Cuccurullo and that all went out the window when he joined Duran Duran.

(Not that there's anything wrong with Duran Duran, it just wasn't the right band for him.)

It's weird to me that in 2013 people think they can just have things removed from the internet. That sort of belligerent ignorance is almost offensive.

Katerine (or your alias Marie), read up on the Streisand Effect. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Streisand_effect

Enjoy your ever-lasting internet fame! Maybe try to be less vacuously condescending, it smacks of middle-class self-entitled privilege. :)

If you are going to post here, why not do so in a positive fashion? Perhaps write about what guitar effects your supergroup likes to use. Does Roger O'Donnell run his keys through anything? I know that the other guys in the Cure used a lot of Boss effects. I bought a CE-2 and a BF-2 inspired by early Cure albums (although I do understand Roger was not involved with them). I'm sure a lot of us here would like to see some pedal-board shots!
