Hyperion and Torns Peaker - too similar?

Post by Smarty »

OK guys, I have just got myself a Devi Ever Hyperion which is ace. I am now thinking of a Torns Peaker. HOWEVER, are the pedals different enough to warrant me getting the Peaker or would I just be replicating what I have with the Hyperion and wasting money?

In my mind i'm thinking of the Peaker as a 'subtle' fuzz/overdrive for verses etc rather than using the amp OD. The Hyperion for fully fuzzed up songs and sludgy choruses etc

Advice on this would be great. Thanks

PS - I have now aquired a 30w valve amp.

i've never tried this, but i read a review of this on the les paul forum.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Dinosaural-OPA- ... 4d0c370594

sounds interesting and the circuit as described by the dude that build it sounds like it might be what you're looking for with the peaker. would be super interested in a review from an ILFer.

btw; had a peaker and loved it but n'er played a hyperion.

Yea they are different enough...the hyp is like a muff and the tp is like a noisy overdrive. Run the hyp into the tp for really cool tones.

Very different circuits. Like bronzetalon said, Hype is scrambly muff actions while the torn's peaker is a really aggressive overdriven fuzz.

Yeah like people have said already, they're pretty different. The Torns Peaker souns really nice when you back the volume off on your guitar. Plus devi's selling them cheap ($60) real soon on her Etsy page :)

TP has literally been my go to sound for the last 3 years. Aggressive as hell and really interacts with your guitar volume knob.
