Trem Arm mode is just silly fun and the harmonizing mode is crazy cool when it glitches out but is still kind of in key. -2 octaves don't really work well on the lower register of my bass but oh well; it didn't work very well on the POG2 either which "tracks" better, so I couldn't expect much.
Woo! Have you tried it with an expression pedal yet?
Ryan don't you have a PS-6?

Re: Boss pedals appreciation thread
yeah i got a ps6
but i use the +1/-1 harm almost always
so when i wanna use the sbend
or the other harmonizer shit
i lose the low low in the bass cab
so i need 2 of them now
unless theres another stereo +1oct/-1oct pedal
that puts each oneout a different channel
and if you like that trem arm
the s bend on the 6 will blow yer mind
as far as expression goes
i wasnt to impressed with it on the ps6
its alright but just alright
i think i gotta mess with it a bit more
out of everything
thats the pedal that theres no replacement for
maybe the rainbow machine with expression would get close
does the 5 have stereo outs?

I was thinking I could get my whammy on if I get an exp pedal. Still gonna try it anyways
Yeah the 5 has stereo outs
Vidret I'd ask to buy it off you but dang I dunno if I can buy that many pedals in such a short period of time lol

Re: Boss pedals appreciation thread
I have the long-chip DD delays, and know them well. I would never describe the pedals as warm.
Rather, they're special due to the unique way the repeats decay, rolling off some of the EQ, causing the tone of the repeats to evolve as they decay, and helping put them in the background of any new input.
If you think you might like the long-chip better if it was darker, analogman does a mod which adds a toggle switch giving two darker repeat settings. Combining the long-chip decay with the analogman mod gets you much closer to the sound of an analog delay. I happen to have the mod on my DD-2 and long-chip DD-3, but don't have the mod on my DSD-2 or 3.

What does the "Enhancer" do? Some kind of EQ?
Still so jealous of your VB-2. I actually had a dream that I found one at some bizarre auction and got it for really cheap

Re: Boss pedals appreciation thread
Yeah, simplest answer is that it's an EQ. Just helps bring back some sparkle in the all-Boss chain, and really adds some nice bite to the drives. I used to have the PQ-4 in that spot, and was mainly using the 'presence' knob to adjust the tone. I decided recently to give the EH-2 another try and have been really happy with it! Sorta like a super-tweakable presence knob.

it's not "WARM" as people claimed the early boss delays were (same as dd-2/dd-3 retro mega vintage chip)
it doesn't oscillate
i might as well use the digital mode on the ibanez de7. but the echo mode is better, so i don't.
The CV in is the shit. That's why it rules. The repeats by itself are ok, but Not sth to go cray cray about.

I have the OD-3, which is absolutely great. And the FRV-1, which nails the exact spring reverb sound I want. I also got the PS-5 in a trade but I don't use pitch shifting much. It has a lot of cool sounds though. I used to have the BF-2 which is a really nice flanger, if I used flangers for anything but fucking around at home I'd get one again.

basically what I'm saying is I think Boss pedals are really neat. I've always wanted to get an FZ-3 or FZ-2 or both.

The enhancer is really cool. Technically, it's actually an expander (the inverse of a compressor). Basically, when the signal crosses a the threshold, it boosts certain frequencies (rather than squashing them like a compressor does). And the boosted frequency can be swept from like 200 Hz all the way up to like 2k. I used to have one and I dig it. EHX makes an expander too (the Steel Leather), but it has the frequency hard-set at like 800 or 1kHz, so it's not as versatile as the EH-2.
