Today I decided I was completely fuckin' sick of music and every sound I can make, then felt like playing bass, then my amp sounded like shit, then maybe I was just fuckin' done with guitar-based music, now I'm changing my pedals around and planning on bending my stupid Yamaha pss-570.
I'm kinda tired of guitars and pedals and brootl hebby metulz, which just rhymed, and also I feel like slamming my head through a microwave window. I need toans like that. Microwave-head-slamming-noodle-frying toanz. No "heavy" shit, just brain scorchers.
Maybe I need a sampler or something LOLOLOL GAS STRIKES AGAIN

A sampler was what I thought of as you were describing your situation, but bending your 570 would be awesome, too. The 460/470/560/570s are supposed to be full of useful bends.

While I was making dinner tonight, I was talking to myself as if I were a young southern girl asking her "mama" for the food I was making. & now I'm snickering like mad because of how preposterous that was.

I mostly go to Talk Bass just to sit in the Luthier's Corner and wish I could make a bass

I'm not sure what's wrong with me, how do you guys keep things interesting?

I haven't had much motivation lately. I need to get rolling again. Last time I went into a music store, I played the same riffs on every instrument I picked up. Basically all of the riffs from "Behind the Wall of Sleep".

When I pick an instrument up in a store, I never know what to do. I used to know so many songs, but it's like I've forgotten it because I don't practice as much. It fucking blows.

i have a repertoire that i run through whenever i test a new instrument, usually guitars. first i hit three or four cowboy chords and see what the pickups/resonance sounds like. often a G chord is enough to send it back to the rack. if i get past the cowboy chords then i run through a series of different styles of playing: some bluegrass/Bakersfield country stuff on the bass strings, some Stephen Stills blues licks on the 7th/9th fret, some chords up the neck with open strings ringing through them, a couple of power chords, a bit of octavey jazz stuff with some densely voiced chords to see if the chords turn to mud, and then some passages from the songs i've written/am working on.

I promised myself I'd change this year. My problem is that I have other things I need to take care of.

I work so fucking much and have a lot of short change-overs. I'm a casual employee and work random shifts. Sometimes I work 10 shifts in a row, which isn't bad, but I they'll have me work until midnight the night before I have to be in for 8:00. I get home at 12:30 and watch television for a while. Sometimes 3:00 strolls around before I fall asleep. Many days I'm running on 3-4 hours of sleep.

On my days off, if I'm not hanging out with the girlfriend, I might stay in bed until 2:00 in the afternoon. Then I don't feel productive until later in the evening (after supper). I need to fix my sleeping habits before I can really get into a schedule with guitar and bass again.

I really need to start writing more for my band because we have a split coming out in April that should feature all new material from the new line-up. On top of that, I promised myself that I would start doing cover videos and put them up on YouTube. Hopefully that way I won't forget everything I learn.

Also, I just received this in the mail:
Image

As much of a grind freak I may be, I am a huge sucker for blues solos. Once I feel comfortable enough playing this sort of thing on guitar, I'm going with a jazz book. I'm a far better bassist than I am a guitarist and I would like to improve on the latter.

There are such great postcards of that Sphere. What's it's name again? Something absurd too.
Did you play in Knoxville?
