Even with sound still coming out of it? The speaker works fine if I put my finger on the back of it lightly where the waxy little doodad connects to the magnet.

i assumed 1 speaker was not working so in that case you have an odd impedance depending upon how its wired. Also possibly 1 speaker could be taking some more umph compared to others

It works, but there is a faint distorted sound coming from it that sounds like shit. I don't really know anything about speakers so I am worried that it might affect my amp or the other speakers in the cab if I keep playing it. Luckily the cab that is at the practice space works great so I will be able to crank it there at practice today.

hmmm yea sounds liek its fuck. u could measure the resistance of the cab. If the cab is say 8 ohms impedance, it should read 6-7 ohms resistance if correct

Man, I feel really dumb for not even thinking of that.

Just watched the new Dave Grohl doc, Sound City, last night and damn was it good. While they seem to forget that there are plenty of minorities still attacking their musical hopes and dreams with ethic and integrity as it once was before the digital revolution...but some very awesome insight on how simplicity, pure intentions and great constructed gear have created the best albums of our time.

Also the movie opens with Grohl's engineer wearing a Monoliths and Dimensions shirt...seems to be a popular Shirt choice for modern docs...the developer in the super meatboy documentary wears one for almost the whole movie...which spans about 6 months....

Anyway if you are interested in watching the doc I highly recommend it...I was hooked the whole time, scroll on the homepage of movie2k.to to find it.

I wouldn't shut up about that to my wife while we were watching that doc  I need to watch the Sound City doc, hopefully I can get some time tonight.

I mean Sunn's entire recorded output is basically an homage to a properly placed microphone, so...

Tis true..... What's weird about Sunn O))) is that their "biggest" albums are my least favorite and the less known ones are.... White 1+2 AMAZING!!! The bonus disc on the special edition Black One is insane!!! Monoliths and Dimensions to me was kinda meh.... :idk: I guess I like their "noisier" stuff and less the straightforward guitar @ 140db stuff with evil vocals (i like "my wall"s vocals cause its more of a poem, regardless Atilla is a beast)....

I can't really get into them beyond Altar, which was surprisingly varied and mellow (initial impressons, haven't listened in a while)... I dig the idea behind the band, but if you've got a six pack and a loud rig you can DIY that shit.

I haven't listened to anything beyond Altar either on an actual album...just live in the room, no matter what material they are playing the experience alone is worth it...especially if Attila is on vocals.

But I do agree...anyone with a lick of creativity, 3 Sunn fullstacks, and AT LEAST 2 boomerang loopers would be able to pull it off.

Speaking of Sunn...anyone hear of a little FX builder called Sunmachine? I contacted him a bit ago to get one of these Colossus Fuzzes built to emulate that Model T gain channel in certain instances...and lo and behold, he was in the process of building one for O'Malley himself! Pretty damn rad unit...but at $350 it's gonna be awhile...

He was super cool when I talked to him, I think he may still have one up for grabs...said since they are so time-consuming to build he built another along with O'Malley's order for efficiency...can't wait to get out of this hole...i've trimmed down to strictly essentials at this point so I don't even really have anything I can try and turn around for it
