Re: The Doom Room: ILF Edition
What's deal with amps without a master volume? How is it beneficial or not? I saw someone selling their Dunwich because they forgot to have it designed with one and they mentioned in the ad they needed a master volume control on their amp for the specific tone they were going for.

Re: The Doom Room: ILF Edition
sounds like a retube might fix a lot of what you are talking about. find a dude that can test the tubes and try to keep as many old ones as will work. I'm no V4 expert. but from what I hear they are kinda finicky. plenty of good amp people in our area though. hell, read back a couple posts and you've got guys who talk to one of the best in the industry.
Necro, a master volume can be a tone suck. D's issue with not having one was that the fuzz he likes boosts the amp to much. a master volume circuit would attenuate that and even it out. matter of preference and what you like. If you want raw amp tone nmv is the way to go. If you want to be able to play quietly (wtf is that) master volume is cool (i guess) I'm running 3 amps, all nmv and have to do some workarounds to use some of the pedals i love. DESTROYER! Right now I've got a multichannel looper in the works that will let me run any pedal at any intensity and control the volume of effects loops. If I was running all master volume amps, i would not need to do that.
guys, feel free to chime in if a said that wrong or was stupid

That's me. I can't get my no pedal volume up loud enough before breakup occurs. When I kick off the fuzz I need my 'cleans' to be smoother than I can get with this non master volume amp. It has wicked nice breakup though and it would be beautiful if I were doing something different. My Fender has a master so I can just set my breakup with the gain and then set my actual volume with the master. I can tell you this Dunwich machine would've been up top for every show if I wasn't a dunderheaded fool about not requesting the master volume.

Eh, the Hot Rod is sure nice for 25 watts. But at the end of the day 25 watts is for girls and/or practice. I don't blame you for getting stuck on the Avenger. I'll pass your message along to Russellmania

Alright that makes since... But now I have to ask, why not request/pay nick/someone to put one in or get an earnie ball volume pedal?

Hundred bux shipping each way, not a ton of space on the front of the amp and I don't really want somebody else to mod Dunwich Stonehenge #001. I also don't think I want an Ernie Ball volume pedal.

Re: The Doom Room: ILF Edition
I gotta say, I'm with D-day, master volume is handy. Having more control over tone(s) available from your amp is invaluable. Plus I live in a town where every venue's sound dude busts out the decibel voodoo detector, (we have retarded licensing laws in this state) so you don't often have the option to go to 11.
If you put the volume pedal before the preamp you'll only cut down on gain, it might work in the loop though...I've never tried that actually.
Having said that, if I had money I'd totally jump on that wizard.
Now if only I could get my wife to say that about me...

Still have to ship it and/or have a new amp shipped if you sell it and I bet you could find a EBVP for less than that. but if you set on selling it.. you think you could send me a link to that post right quick xD

Re: The Doom Room: ILF Edition
god damn! so...i was about to buy that SG, and in the meantime I sold my Epi LP...so now i have money and no guitar to buy.
but now I'm thinking, i wont buy a guitar with that money, and instead ill put a P90 in my other LP and save the rest of the money and once my band starts gigging, ill sell my amp and add the cash together to get a Laney GH100 and a 4x12 cab or maybe even a 2x15 cab...

Yeah he's a solid unit already!
I have seen the road. I loved it, but I'm generally a fan of post-apocalyptia. Mad Max is the greatest Australian movie ever made and Fallout the best gaming franchise going.
Also radsticks is tequila and ginger beer. Thanks little boob! Lets hit the donkey show.

Mad Max is the best aussie movie ever...especially the US version where they dubbed the voices to have American accents!. I never saw that version when i was in Australia, but i saw it when i was in San Francisco a few years ago when i was on holidays...absolutely hilarious! watching Bisley with a american accent is something you don't see everyday!

Re: The Doom Room: ILF Edition
I just impulse bought a used Verellen Skyhammer Pedal
Thankfully it's local and he's knocking off shipping so I can pick it up, its right by my band practice spot. Not to mention it was a fair price to begin with.
Kinda excited.
