Total opposite from you guys. I never played a passive bass I liked until my Ric. It's the only passive that could out-growl my actives.
And I need my tweeters. Without it, it just sounds like mud butt.

I'm with bc. If I was playing with effects 100%, I'd agree with you guys. No actives. No tweeters. But not with dirt, a tweet and some active pups are where it's at. Not using them cuts out a good 1/5 of my tone. Mostly top end that a lot of bass players ignore, but it's some good freq ranges we shouldn't leave just to the guits. And most of the time I can get all of my effects sounds with just using my fingers. If more of you fuckers would practice your technique instead of playing with your pedals, you wouldn't even need half of the shit on your boards. Wastefulness. I'd keep talking to you assholes, but I'm working on my flanger pluck. I'm going to go practice. Which is where you should be.

Ah yes....it's all in the finger
Passive bass and strings made from the bones of people who try to make me use tweeters here.
I can't get along with octavers. Had an MXR, an Octron and recently a Pog 2. I like the concept and the tone in isolation but I never seem to use it live. I suspect it's because my fuzz finger and echo finger are both overdeveloped.

When not using octavers for wacked out synth sounds [not much of this live... right now..] I pretty use them for bass drops... I would love a monetary switch on a octaver really

Flats?
How uncivilized.

And the tracking on the SVD has nothing to do with the actives. I just tried it with the Status volume down. Same results. It just bounces all over the place below the G string.

The Markbass Ocaver is like a slightly better OC2. I recommend it.

Our second baby is due June 8. Nesting is off the charts with my girlfriend at the moment. If I let her, I think she would bypass sleep and renovate the entire house of an evening - which would be awkward seeing its a rental....

GO TO BED!!!!! And congrats, $10!
I...um.....am putting in my month's notice at my much lower pay, 40 hour a week job. Kinda sad. I've been here for 5 years. Non profit place. Great people. Actually helping people and not just trying to make money. I'm finding it hard telling them. But 23 hours at one place equals the pay of 40 hours at this place. So I have to do it.
At the new place I'm only at about 12 hours of clients per week, as I've been part time, but they called me over the weekend and asked me if I wanted an office to go full time. Sounds cool, but I'm not sure how many clients they can actually feed me. I have two weeks vacation saved up at the old place, but essentially, in order to stay even financially I need to double my clientele in six weeks. The old job was also a secure salary and the new place is all about the number of clients I see. Wife used to make equal pay to me as a Behavior Analyst but she's stay at home and it's all on me. Kinda scary. So I'm bummed I'm leaving the old place, dreading telling them, and anxious about taking that step forward. But looking at it logically, it's not even a question. Totally the right move to make.

Any chance that your giving notice might result in their negotiating w/you on staying with them?

I really don't think so. They're a national org so the salaries are kinda set. I would LOVE to do 5 to 10 hours of consulting with them but we're in the throws of a managed healthcare provider's takeover of state medicaid. It's a tumultuous time. They've told me in the past they don't need any part time peoples. My dream is private practice, too. It's the path I started on four years ago. Where I've always wanted to be. We just never saw having so many kids that wifey would need to stay home.
