In a van down by the river.

I took it off. If I still smoked, it would be used for its intended ashtray purpose. :p

That is great because I'll have plenty of time to live and play smokin' bass in a van down by the river ...

My new baby... '62 American RI. :joy:
I got a pretty nice price for it. Used but in like new condition.

I already ordered the East Retro J preamp to drop in but this plays so goddamn good already and the action is tits. TITS I SAY.

Beautiful. I don't know what it is about stacked knobs but I love them. Do they come on the '62 RI's or is that a mod?

Yep! That's pretty much what separates them from the MIJ.

The Japanese RI models have the 3 knob - volume, volume, tone, output jack configuration.

I have the John East Retro J preamp, hipshot tuners and bridge hopfully arriving this week.
Nothing wrong per say with the current setup, but I love hipshot hardware and I spoiled myself on their bridges years ago.

My buddy just did his with the East preamp and it sounds delicious. I can't wait.

What's with the P-Bass pickup and the weird bridge?

Also, what's the scale length?

It's a 32" converted from a 30", thus the floating style bridge at the end of the body. The fretboard was recycled from an old cedar fence post.

I'm a sucker for humbuckers - this was a Bicentennial Gibson Thunderbird with a busted truss rod. Mike Lull worked his magic, cut a new neck pocket. All original parts cept the USA Custom Guitars maple neck and the Hipshot tuners. Now its a Bicentennial Fenderbird!
