Kinda jumping in here without reading back so sorry if this doesn't relate entirely...AngryGoldfish wrote:I've cut down on my food intake, started working out, and unless my scales are fucked up (which I think they are), I've GAINED weight.
I'm a tall, thin-ish guy with a high speed metabolism thank god. Regardless, as I get older, that metabolism naturally slows and I have to consciously maintain what I consider my baseline weight. Also, if I carry some extra weight awhile, it's like my body gets comfortable there and resets that baseline even higher.
I think the best way keep that metabolism rolling through the years is to graze a little all day on the healthiest shit you can stomach and eat smaller meals overall. Just avoid gorging, huge meals make your metabolism wanna take a long rest. Oh, and if you're a drinker, avoid that late night post-drinking fast food run.
Pair that with a healthier diet and some exercise (cardio based stuff) and you'll shed unwanted pounds and have easier go with the maintenance. I know everyone is different tho and there's no single perfect approach but that's worked for me as I go up in years.

Yeah, it wasn't my amp or board so I didn't get a chance at the RAT (or much else in terms of boost/od/dirt/fuzz) but I'm sure results would've been stunning. The amp sounded so amazing and thick all on it's own though, a real jaw dropper.deathmonkey wrote:I prefer the rat into my red bear.... But I think the take home is that red bears fucking rule.

To be honest if i got down the road of LP's i would most likely go for Yamaha SG or Ibanez AR...but i already have a really good Lp shaped guitar and just want something else. I do have a soft spot for an Ibanez Iceman...but im sure there's stuff out there that i dont know about...yet!pelliott wrote:How close to a Les Paul is too close? General body shape? This is pretty solid advice. My metabolism took a shit around 35. I hit the gym 2-3 a week and run about 10 miles on average, but without paying attention to diet (and limiting alcohol), I'm just maintaining. I basically exercise to burn off booze.Holy Schnikes wrote:I think the best way keep that metabolism rolling through the years is to graze a little all day on the healthiest shit you can stomach and eat smaller meals overall. How does everyone feel about Mesa cabs? I'm in the market for some new ones and I have a line on a cheap stack.
I might end up going custom, too. Those Mammoth cabs look pretty nice.

Re: The Doom Room: ILF Edition
I usually have one large meal in a day. The rest is spent eating a bowl of cereal here, a piece of toast there, a yoghurt here, half a tub of cottage cheese there. The workouts I've been doing are based around the HIIT techinque, or High Intensity Interval Training, where one exercise is fast, intense and draining, followed by slow and less intense exercises. It's supposed to help build up your metabolism, but also encourage your body to burn fat while it's resting. As it's healing, you can burn calories. You just have to do the right exercises. It usually entails lots of Burpees, Mountain Climbers, Abdominal exercises, and upper body exercises such as push-ups and many free weight routines.Holy Schnikes wrote:Kinda jumping in here without reading back so sorry if this doesn't relate entirely...AngryGoldfish wrote:I've cut down on my food intake, started working out, and unless my scales are fucked up (which I think they are), I've GAINED weight.

I weigh 13.5 stone or 190lbs. I'm not sure how tall I am. Maybe 5'10.pelliott wrote:How much do you weigh now? And how tall are you?AngryGoldfish wrote: So why are boxers so commonly light? 12 stone is where I want to be, yet I'm currently almost at the same weight as a heavyweight boxer, with nowhere near the physique they have.
One thing is that an average human works out nowhere near the intensity of a world class athlete. They burn fat/calories like it's no one's business. They're just gifted when it comes to build and natural athleticism. While you're putting on muscle you also retain fat and water weight to some degree which can change your body shape/definition. And as Ancient said, Mike Tyson is a prime example of someone who isn't as tall as you think he is.
Another thing: boxers and wrestlers also MUST maintain a specific weight while at top physical condition and often do so at the sacrifice of proper dieting and hydration around the time of their weigh-ins. That's why you see these guys who are ridiculously defined leading into fights.
That sounds really bad. I try to drink a lot of water. I heard it helped lose weight.samzadgan wrote:Water weight is pretty big...a couple of guys at work had a bet for losing weight in the space a month...one guy ate well went to the gym and the other guy didnt get hos act together...but then a few days before the weigh in, the lazy guy massively resuced his liquid intake and actually ended loaing more weight and won the bet!...which is basically what boxers do when they go running in those foil suits days before weigh-ins.

I think Mesa cabs are killer. They're just going to get thrashed in the end so why not go the less expensive route. That's only a rhetorical question btwhumancertainty wrote:How does everyone feel about Mesa cabs? I'm in the market for some new ones and I have a line on a cheap stack.

And empty paradigm! Denver is on our list. I can guarantee we won;t get that far before the album is done though. But we just finished mixing it on Friday so theoretically late summer or fall is possible.
Also I got a SMASHING tone running the Iron Pig into the Naga Viper. Fucking bold.

Re: The Doom Room: ILF Edition
There were a hundred Hammond enclosures waiting on my doorstep when I got home!
Also this is my favorite metal album ever made. Alot of the songs have a real cool stoner vibe and I'm starting to think that this particular album was a huge influence on my musical aesthetic. The cool dude at the skate shop gave me the cassette promo when I was about 15. Me and all my skater friends were into Metallica BIGTIME right then and when I brought the Slayer tape around I remember they all hated it. I still love it to death and have been putting in some time with it lately.

Re: The Doom Room: ILF Edition
I received this in the mail today. I'm not sure where someone was looking for reviews, but here it is anyway.

This thing is great. Everything you've seen and heard about it is bang-on the money. The sound quality is excellent, both with distortion and clean, and is every bit as good as its counterparts; arguably better. There is no signal loss or degradation when on or off. Latency is almost perfect; it's barely noticeable. Because the footswitch is soft to press, it's hard to make a mistake and miss-time your feet.
The only problem I have with it is, you can't undo overdubs further into the piece, you can only undo the most recent layer. So if you don't press undo for long enough you can actually record something, whatever your guitar is doing at the time, and then you can't undo the one you really wanted to undo. If you try to undo again you just redo the mistake. This is the limitation of such a small device.
Other than that I'm really happy. Hopefully the switch will last long enough, because I've heard they're not very rugged. The size is smaller than you'd think, the knob feels comfortable to turn, the light and sounds to distinguish where you are in the looping phase are all intuitive (though you can't see the light when you hover your foot over it), there is zero perceivable latency, and the sound quality is excellent.
I'm happy - though I did just break the nut on my new Telecaster, so yeah.

Yeah. I remember a post on HCFX where you were talking about never spending more than $300 on a cab. Or something along those lines.D-Day wrote:I think Mesa cabs are killer.
