Analog sections need to run at higher voltages then to allow for sufficient headroom. The other problem is that the DSP stuff in the tech needs to have a lot of bits for headroom. Like the Styrmon stuff has 24 bit. This means there is sufficient room for the A to D to capture large input swings.

Definately overspend on old sunns. Coincedetally, I happen to have in my possesion an old sunn concert bass head that I would happily part with should someone choose to overspend on it. .
But srysly, I do has and would let go for cheap to someone here if interested.
