Trying to do my own setup on a bass and am starting to really annoy myself

Bass arrived from the US to an Australian summer (and cyclone) so I've had to adjust neck relief a bit as it acclimatized. What I have now is a great action across the board right up to the 17th fret on the D string and very slightly on the E - where it buzzes a fair bit. Do I -

A) adjust string height at the bridge for these strings - higher/lower?
B) tighten the truss rod a touch more?
C) Take the bass to a professional and spend the rest of my day looking at the girl 5 pages back with the amazing butt?
D) Stop pretending I play up near the 17th fret?
E) Take up synth bass and learn to embrace my inner pop musician?

So I haven't picked my bass up but twice in the last two weeks. I'm kind of depressed about it. I've got this beautiful new Dingwall bass sitting here, but something just does not sound right about it. God damn it. I'm thinking it may be the strings. I need to stop trying flats. Fuck me they suck. Every time I seem to forgot how much they suck. They kill the natural tone of the bass, my effects and my amp. They sound like mud or shit. I thought I like them, but the more I play them, the more I dislike the tone.

SO I pick up my cheap ass Jackson and go to town and have a ball doing it. Everything sounds better. Fuck.

The problem is obvious, you haven't flipped anything in weeks.

Been the same for me but for the last 2 or so months. Which is why I have yet to buy or trade any gear with the of the rad delay I got for SS this year.

I'm in this group. Maybe it's just that time of the year.

I also heard that Eventide made this in conjunction with EHX.....like....it's really all EHX but Eventide got to put their name on it. And the makers were all banging white chicks at the time. And listening to prog rock. This has Behndy written all over it.
