My buddy got a Fender jazz PLUS delivered today, circa 1990-91.
Plays GOOD. Like REALLY GOOD. Has the kubicki preamp. Neck is thinner, so doesn't exactly feel like a standard classic jazz. The fingerboard radius is also flatter.
This is one of my things that bugs me... going back to my love/hate relationship with Fender and specifically jazz basses. I pick some up and that play awesome and others I want to smash against a wall.

Why?

Same buddy also has A Gibson RD coming in a day or two. This one is circa 1980-81 I believe. Not quite my style, but the preamp is intense in that thing. MASSIVE.

I kinda have GAS for a Lakland or similar. I just want a damn jazz that plays and FEELS like a jazz but... not a jazz. Make sense? I knew it would
