What would be the point of the small guys then? I've always thought that Boss' role in the pedal market was to bring durable, somewhat watered-down pedals to the working class gigging musicians. Not really the cork-sniffing, fancy paintjob type of company.

(For the record, I enjoy both Boss pedals and boutique overpriced stuff, lol) :thumb:

I really don't get the intense reactions people are expressing. Dudes, it's BOSS. When is the last trailblazing pedal they released? They are the Ford Motor Co. of pedals, and have been for 25 years. I appreciate them producing straightforward (some might say) watered down and cheaper designs that might be worth a look later on. Nothing here is setting me on fire, but I think the Tera Echo and Multi-whatever provide a nice alternative that will be widely available and may be useful. They may also end up being shit. Who knows!
Good deals on ILF: too many to list, just ask!

I actually didn't think the Tera Echo was that bad. Its a stereo delay with a hold feature and modulation, that allows you to freeze and then play over it. For what it is, I don't think that is awful and got pretty ambient without totally sounding like shit.

I think they were really excited to debut their new technology, and for what that technology is, I think that right out of the gate they are showing potential with it. Yeah, none of the boxes are going to be like OH SHIT, but do we know of any other pedals that modulate delays by pick attack? No.

I think it's promising to see what they do with the technology in the future, but this is a good start, at least for the Tera Echo.

Yeah, true enough.
With all the shit people run into their delays here though I think it'd just sound like a squishy phased mess all the time
And maybe that's where it would truly shine with ILF.

Plus, if you think about it, not every touring musician is going to want to lay down cash and wait for an Organizer or have room for a POG 2 when you can have a mix of the 2 at a Guitar Center for probably a median of both prices.

I'm sure once they figure out their own technology a little more, they will be able to shrink it down and expand on these ideas. Just look at the Digital Delays and how they have grown. I bet that this new technology will shrink so they can have multiple modes on the next round of pedals.

I think THAT is where the frustration comes from- the delay only has ONE mode, instead of the MANY or even multiple that we've become used to on all these delays being introduced to the market

seems to me that BOSS have made simple, useable boxes (the TE and MO) that give the user the more useful sounds of the granulated-echo and octavey-synth pedals in ways that are sometimes more musical than the electronic-party-tricks side of something like the Organizer. i'd like to see someone with a less, erm, mainstream sensibility demo them.

so basically everyone's complaints is "its not good enough because we're spoiled" ?

anyways, i'm really loving the MO-2 a whole bunch, because its one of those pedals that makes a guitar just sound alien. sorta sounds like an easier to manage Rainbow Machine. when the distortion comes in, you kinda have a lil swirly flangy action going on because of the pedals interacting. and franky, fuck all y'all for complaining about shit sounding "digital" and creaming over bit crushers. embrace all sorts of digitalliness and make it work for ya. if you think "ew, a guitar isn't supposed to sound like that" its supposed to sound like that.

the adaptive distortion brings up an interesting concept of routing different sounds for different frequencies, and i'd like to see that concept taken to the point of say, having the ability to route different distortions or blending two for different ranges, and having the option to maybe have both on at the same time, or a sweep between the two. like say a Monolith for low chuggy stuff, and as you noodle up, it slowly fades out, as a superfuzz comes in

terra echo is kinda neat. sbout it tho.

I'm pretty sure there will always be room for creativity in the pedal market :thumb: Boss is never going to edge out the little guys.

Anyway, I agree with you that Boss doesn't really cater to the corksniffer, NOS, vintage mojo parts crowd. However, they are a big company with a lot of engineers on the payroll. Surely, if a single guy in a basement can cook up some bad ass crazy pedals, then a whole team of engineers can too.
