Rando: I'm thinking about turning my VM Jag bass into a straight up Jag bass.
Routing all the jank out, adding the rhythm cicuit, replacing the P/J with a regular Jazz set. Thoughts?

I'm curious too. What sound are you not getting out of your VM Jag? I took the pots out of mine yesterday and it really changed the tone.
It seems like a lot of trouble to reroute it, get new pickups, and add new hardware. For the cost you could probably just get a Modern Player Jag.
Unless modding is your thing, of course. It just sounds like a lot to do IMO.

Your control mod inspired me to finally take out those stupid concentric pots and then it just kind of spiraled from there.
I haven't really been playing that bass for a while, and I'd like to get more grind out of it.

It's probably equal parts curiosity and boredom.

If you want more grind, try running the pickups straight to output. You gain output and treble. I'm running flats on mine and it sounds more alive now than it did with rounds before. So my suggestion is to try the minimalist approach before adding in all the extra stuff. It's easy enough to do without much modification.

That would be the reasonable thing to do.
I'll try wiring it straight and see how it goes. If that doesn't work out, I may put in regular volumes. Maybe just a toggle.

Haha. But yeah, we wouldn't put any stuff on the stroller directly. I think the first thing we were talking about would be in packets. I'd be cool with that. I think just walking them out in the sun every other week should be fine, though.
