Re: The down side of used pedals
I've done my fair share of B/S/T-ing on this site and have had only positive experiences so far. Even when the deal didn't work out, my pedal was returned to me without hassle. The pedals I have bought/traded on here are usually cleaned up and de-pube'd and come with original boxes and goodies even if they haven't listed them in their posts. That being said, eBay pedals are Pube-Central. Thanks to all the people I have B/S/T'd with on here and to anyone who is gun shy about trading, most of the dudes on here are stand up guys who are true to their word (and females, if there are any aside from Aen's wife).
Good B/S/T dealings with: univalve, DannDubbleEwe, Shish, ThePastRecedes, GiAnt_ROboT, chutneyfarmer, Muse FTW, robapov, skullservant, MaxMaps, psychedelicrelic, guitarslinger21, space6oy, theshoegazer, bongoben, osbornkt

Re: The down side of used pedals
I'm totally guilty of doing this. My cats love to lay around my pedalboard when I leave it out, so there is always cat hair in the velcro of my pedals. I try to clean it out when I sell shit, but I can never get all of it. Sorry to anyone I do deals with in the past and future.

Yeah I'm definitely guilty too. I don't think I've ever had pubes in them.. I don't really leak pubes all over my stuff.. But I used to have long hair that was kinda unhealthy and yeah I've sent out some hairy stuff. I also have a cat, but honestly my cat is so luxurious you should just be happy that she enhanced the velcro for you.

Wait. Am I the only one who thinks it's common courtesy to rub their balls all over the gear they're sending out?
In serious I always feel bad because I know I've sent out countless amounts of cat hair over the years even though I do give them a once over before sending them out.

Sometimes my velcroy pubes get stuck to my board while they're still attached...

I send mine with velcro on them because you know they're supposed to be used. I'd feel bad sending a pedal into a blues museum.

I usually appreciate any velcro already being on a pedal that I buy/trade for. And any pubes/cat hairs are a part of the deal.

Re: The down side of used pedals
As long as I know what I'm getting into when I buy it, I don't care.
My favorite guitar purchase of all time was a freebie from a guy who used to work at the Hamer shop, he had built himself this truly beautiful DC-style beast.
Then he got caught cheating on his wife. He tried to make amends by cutting "I'm sorry" into the back of it with a pocketknife.
It was thrown in the river after that. He fished it out, and just gave it to me as I sat on the steps of the guitar shop waiting for it to open one afternoon.
I eventually gave it back to him. I wasn't sorry.
Some things just add character.

I consider the pubes a bonus. Never know when you're gonna run out of floss!

Re: The down side of used pedals
I find it odd when you receive a pedal with shit stuck to the velcro. Mine are usually on my board or on a shelf. I've sold pedals with velcro on the back and there might have been a beard hair or a dog hair on it. When I get a pedal full of hair, lint, and a rainbow of who knows what else, I have to question what they were doing with it.

Re: The down side of used pedals
I actually brought this up in a similar thread not that long ago. I have received several shitty pedals from ILF members. By shitty I meant cosmetically they look like shit. lol Cat fucking hair, dirt all over, smelling like cigarettes...etc.
Shit pisses me off. I can understand the hair thing, but when a pedal smells like ass...that's fucked. Clean that bitch a little! Shit.

jwar, I know it's off topic, but I want to tell you I love the Dr. Octagon avatar. I've used it on a few forums myself.
That being said, I usually send out pedals without dust and smelling like me. WONDERFUL.
