Yes it can I need to remember the things I've researched before I ask questions.
But yeah, does this excel at doin' dirt or is it pretty versatile?

I'm just annswering all my own questions.
Don't mind me.

So... how often are you guys changing your strings?
I just realized I hadn't put new strings on my bass in a year. And they are roundwounds. For some reason I can't make myself change them until they feel really gross.

Now I'm forcing myself to change them. But flats are going on, so it'll probably be another year until the next change... This bass must hate me.

On my tele I didn't change the strings until I felt dirty and had to wash my hands after playing... The washing water was brown from all the grease and stuff.. it was disgusting.. did that only once.

I've had some DR Flats on my Bass for 7-8 years now... I thought Jamerson never changed strings... What about boiling them???

murgle burgle. i'm torn. i'm gonna have an extra $800 or so in the next couple weeks. i dunno if i want to buy a synth or finally order a second Dingwall. i'm kinda leaning towards synth 'cause that'll let me try new stuff NOW. but i do only have one bass i'd want to play out right now. and it takes like 3ish months for them to build a Dinger.

synth i'd either go with the Moog Minitaur thinger or the Blofeld. gotta go play with the Moogé for a bit first, but i'm leaning towards the Blofeld 'cause i already play bass that i try to get to sound kinda synthy.

thoughts?

Order the Dingwall...I didn't think I'd use a second bass all that much until I actually had a second bass. Now I have options; different tunings, different strings, different...stuff.

That makes me feel less bad then.
I've heard about people boiling their strings but haven't looked into it. Restringing them would be hard I would think.

That's a tough decision. I would probably get a backup Dinger since they take so long. Then check out synths in the meantime to figure out which one you really want.
But I can't blame you for wanting a synth first.

I actually thought about it and it's been 9 years and they look the same as when I put them on... I am a weekly Bass Player and sometime daily but I have never done anything but wipe them with my shirt if needed... They still sound GREAT to me...

Play/practice 1.5/2 hrs daily; I rarely wipe the strings afterward but I do wash my hands before playing...

The K Smiths I use on my 004 actually sound better when they've got a week or so's worth of playtime and then last about 3 months before deadening enough to make me swap them out.

I'm wondering how long the GHS Pressurewounds on my Stiletto will last...they've been on for about two months now and sound the same as when they first went on.

Bought new replacement strings about 2 months ago when I realized the current ones had been on for at least half a year. Still haven't swapped them out. They still sound decent enough and new ones always take a week of heavy playing to lose that new string sound I can't stand.

I don't wait any specific amount of time before changing strings, I just go by how they sound. Once they have no zing to them left, and start sounding dull and thuddy, that's when I swap them. The Circle Ks I put on my basses in June still sound great. :idk:

Mine usually last about 6 months. I'm going to pick up some chromes soon and from what I hear I won't need to change until they break

lol. hee. i'm ALL kinds of giggly today.

first, synth vs 2nd Dinger - yeah. i've got a week or two until my bonus hits to think about it, bu i just remembered i have the laptop setup with Kontakt/Massive and some midi keys to play with to make sure i can actually DO synth and bass at the same time, so i'm gonna try that first. and if i do dig it/can pull it off i'll look at a hardware synth. i want to have the ability to play samples, but it's really not worth it to go with a laptop over a hardware synth. they're just such a pain to deal with when they glitch, and it's about 4 times the setup. i'm already looking at hooking up 2 pedalboards and a speaker rig for each. i think i'd run the synth into the 2nd pedalboard. i think.

gigglez = HAH. so, i reship stuff to Haki once in awhile to help him on the customs/shipping fees to his frozen tundra of a country. as an adorable little thank you he sent me "something colorful. that you might demo." -

hee. it's.... a little frightening how well the man knows me.

but no. i will not be doing a demo of it. or the proper use of it.

thanks pimp!
