Mmm...
SHOOGAEZ that is more Swirlies or Joy Sores than sighing into eighteen reverbs.
Yeah, shoegaze where the bass isn't clean all the damn time.

Re: I wanna be in a _________ band goddammit!!!!!
Been thinking about this a lot:
I'd like to be in a straight-up rock band with digressions into country licks and metal riffs, with no apologies given for those. Neil Young guitar toans and playing with the dynamics between really loud and really quiet in the same song. Proper song topics up for grabs are love, loss, and life. Fuzz, noise, and psych freakouts in songs. Two guitarists and a whole slew of other instruments. I'd especially like a violinist. And a drummer who really, really, can lay down a groove (and also has a van and a practice space..)
And then I realized I've been listening to Wilco again..

Re: I wanna be in a _________ band goddammit!!!!!
doom metal meets nwobhm with darker, more black metal-esque manowar lyrics
bass power chords
squeely floyd rose divebomb solos
album covers with evil knights and skeletons and lamenting women
old 80s spikey guitars refinished in dark walnut stains
and somebody would rock a painted sg like claptons but it would have a wizard on it
but I can't play metal so one of you guys get on this

I'd be into that, only if everyone wore gauntlets with giant nails and multiple bullet belts.

Or robes.

My ideal band would be a baroque dance punk ensemble called Danny Dangerous and the Dancefloor Disciples. Yes there would have to be 12 other people.
Otherwise I think it'd be fun to play in a rap group. Like as backing band.

While I'm on my laundry list of awesome thugs I want in a band: female singer that can really sing, and is interesting in live looping vocals (big Chelsea Wolfe inspiration here)
Also because I'm tired of hearing dudes sing.

Re: I wanna be in a _________ band goddammit!!!!!
i've come to accept my status as a non-bandmate-haver so i've decided that any musical project i do, is gonna be me as bandleader, unless i really hit it off and jive with someone's style.
but projects in the works/what i wanna do
(in the works) Bakemono: solo project. abstract beats that kinda stumble over themselves in clusters, long bits of 4th notes, then a quick flourish of a 32nd note beat or something with washes of guitar, synth, or melodica with a sorta Karate/Kinsellacore/Bossa Nova feel. geometric guitar melodies akin to Dustin Wong and Dirty Projectors solos, with vocaloid vocals courtesy of Megurine Luka
wanna do: jazz project working with the above tonal aesthetic of kinsellacore/bossa nova adding in contemporary stuff (claudia quintet/metheny-ish vibes) but with a strong emphasis on improvisation utilizing expanded electronic ephemera of modern instruments. guitar, bass, drummer/drum machine, woodwind, and maybe a vibes player. i'd like to use electronic extensions in a jazz context beyond just making noise, or chopping things up after the fact like most acts seem to do
wanna do: basically The Birthday Party, but more fucked up and with maybe two singers (one doing Nick Cave, the other growly scotch-voice boogie woodie stuff)
wanna do: experimental/noise rock/hip-hop group. think Dope Body + Eels' cover of Get Yr Freak On + Pere Ubu + Nicki Minaj's Stupid Ho and Roman in Moscow
wanna do: 21st century folk act using electronic instruments and acoustic guitar played through pedals (especially if i can find an acoustic with a trem system, that would own), beats, and electric trumpet, and singer(s). sorta what Bakemono would sound like, but maybe more rooted in folk music
i think that should be all. basically i wanna do new shit.
