Jerry was really the only one on that show whose character was affluent. George was on and off unemployed for most of the run, except for those two seasons when he worked for the Yankees. Elaine was portrayed as even more poor than George for the first 4 seasons. Kramer never had a job for longer than a day in the entire series.

As for finding it boring ... well yeah. That was actually the whole point. It was "show about nothing". The entire point of the series was that there was no storyline, and every show just focused on the dumb conversations and minutiae of your everyday life. I found it funny

Right, like I said, Jerry was undoubtedly portrayed as a mildly weathy comedian. No one else on the show was what I would call affluent.

And yes, the characters were definitely shallow, childish, petty, and basically bad people. That was on purpose. Larry David stated in an interview that he didn't want sappy emotions, he didn't want moral lessons, and he didn't want preachy themes. The official motto of that show was "No hugging, no learning".

lol. i never really analyzed it that much. i watched about 10 episodes from different seasons.... don't remember laughing once. just figured i wasna it's target audience.

fuuuuuuuuuck. so.... picked up a SuperEgo, then got stuck in Virtual Land. i organized about 100 gigs of music that i had all over the place, got it into one folder. took like 4 hours, i have such a bad habit of multi-tasking that i watched a bunch of Dexter season 2....super productive, but i'm off to practice now.

we play at a neat place i've always wanted to in SF called Brainwash. it's a micro club slash laundromat. and that makes me ECSTATIC.

I quite enjoyed it, but don't own the DVDs or watch it anymore. But the show was always about nothing, and then them pitching a show about nothing, in a show about nothing, a few years in? Pretty awesome.

Fan of Seinfeld. Much bigger fan of Curb Your Enthusiasm. I love Larry David.

Hahaha. I had no idea I was about to spark a huge Seinfeld talk. I guess I'm obviously in the "dig it" camp. Jerry actually came to the La that not many famous people come to last year and it was one of the best stand up acts I've seen (I've seen quite a few).
