you can set your own tunings and store them. then look up scales or reverse look up chords shapes you play in that tuning and it will help you figure out what you're playing, which can help develop a cool riff into a song.

My standard tuning has been C G C Eb G D for the past few months. I love it.

I use standard most of the time! But I have a song in open D, plus that's fun to mess around. My favorite tunings, though, are when you take standard, pick a string, and tune it down a step. I have a few songs with the B string down to A, and then a few songs with the A string down to G. Sometimes they make chords sound even beautifuller. And sometimes they make chords awful! But the best is to find new chords to play!
