My wife has been packing zero junk food the past two weeks for lunch. It's making me crave it even more. But I know this has to be good. I haven't gained anything in a few weeks. I was on a steady increase ever since I graduated in May...

After you eat healthy for a while junk food stops tasting good and healthy food tastes a lot better.

Unfortunately alcohol stays just as good no matter what you do.

I've taken a liking recently to kiwis. I've been having one as a snack at least once a day for the past week. Don't really care for the skin though...

Yep. And goes with being a vegetarian, too. Except that when I'm drunk or having hangover, I've got terrible urge to have some veggie hotdogs or tortilla or something similar, done real greasy in the best junk food munchies way.

My body hasn't really responded great to being a 100% vegetarian in the past. I've read a lot on the subject and nothing yet has convinced me that we are meant to be entirely vegetarian - although I do think that fruits and vegetables are meant to be the largest component of our diet. I've tested out a wide range of ratios of food groups on my body, and I've found my body performs best when I take in - without getting into too much specifics - something like this:

~75% + Fruit and vegetables.
~5-10% Meats (the type of meat is dependent on what I'm trying to get out of my body at a given time performance-wise. When I'm really trying to build muscle more red meat, when I'm working on endurance, less meat in general, but any meat I do have will typically be poultry and/or fish.)
~5-10% Dairy (typically a little less than however much meat I'm having.)
~5% Grains (always multigrain or whole.)
~1% Nuts and similar.
0% Sweets (no candy, no chocolate, no donuts, no cake, no ice cream, no pie, no soda, etc. it helps that I'm not crazy about any of these to begin with. you'll get sugars from fruits and other things but I'm talking specifically about "sweets" here.)

3 miles tonight in new shoes
New balance minimus winter run
about as minimal as it gets and it felt good
legs are wobbly now because I am not used to that type of barefoot feel but I think it will pay off in the long run

Yesterday my wife, mom, and I biked 6.5 miles, then me and my wife ate and took a break for a while before doing another 3.25 miles. I'm still sick so it pretty much wiped me out, but it's the farthest my wife has gone biking thus far in preparation for our 30 mile bike ride in a month. She just picked up a bike for the first time in 13 years about 2 weeks ago, so this is awesome rapid progress.

Sweets are killer. I don't like them much-and consider myself lucky-but for all the people I know that do...man. The stuff's like crack.
I don't think vegetarian diets necessarily help. I was pretty much raised without any meat in my house and don't eat any today save fish. It's actually pretty hard to replace protein without any meat or chicken...I love beans and nuts, but you also end up running into a lot of pasta, bread and cheese...which is all delicious but just death if you're trying to get healthier.
Fixed the exercise bike at my folks house yesterday and rode 12 miles, felt fucking great. Ran or rode over 40 minutes 4 times in the last week.
Feels great to have you guys in this with me. Last place I thought I'd find support for exercising. ILF rules

Wait wait wait

Have you actually been eating the skin of kiwis? You don't eat that part, dude. Well, I mean, technically you can, buuuut, no. I usually just cut them in half and use a grapefruit spoon.

Also, I'm a huge Kung fu fan...Ip Man is awesome, as is Donnie Yen. Friends and I used to get together for "Samurai Sunday," watch a flick and hang out but you know how shit gets when dudes get married and start having kids. I still watch one almost every sat morning before my wife gets up...have Ip Man 2 at home now.
So maybe we start another thread, share Kung fu movie recommendations... :success:
