Bro. Fuck financial aid people. I still don't have my money from last year and still can't register for classes because of it.

I have two really awful instructors this semester. And they both start and end my Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
One is probably mid-60s, demanding, and a completely power-crazed geography professor. Assigned seating, nobody allowed to sit in the last row even if you're late, no cell phones (or he confiscates them until the next class two days later), no laptops, no food or drink (9 am class), and clearly thinks he owns the place because he was one of the authors of the textbook. Plus the TA in the class is a complete airhead. She sounds stoned/slurred, doesn't seem to know where she is, and has no idea how to lead a class.
The other instructor is a second year PhD student with no clue what he's doing teaching a 300 level polisci course. He clearly doesn't know where he's going with the class, asks vague questions without knowing if there is even an answer, and doesn't know how to answer a question a student asks. He also forgot to put in a book request at any of the 4 bookstores on campus (yet still assigned reading from the text). He posts articles on his personal weebly blog. Then we get some BS articles to read. It's an undergraduate class and we are reading things he doesn't even understand. He also swears more than all ILFers combined, looks like a frat boy, and is ignorant of how to pronounce just about any name/country that is slightly out of the ordinary.

The other courses I'm taking seem pretty promising, but then again in comparison to those two what wouldn't?

ACROSS ZE ATLANTIC IZ ZE OSTERREICH! IT IZ ALL ZE OSTERREICH!

The problem with your second class is that it's polisci. That's not even a thing. You know who studies polisci? Frat boys and airheads. That's why they call it "polisci" and not "political science."

@Dr. Sherman: The TA isn't stoned or anything. At least then she would say something interesting. It's more in the way she talks, slow and drawn out without really saying anything. Very absentminded.
The professor definitely makes the class. Unfortunately there isn't always somebody to warn you.

@futuresailors: I should clarify that I'm a political science major. Personally I really enjoy a lot of the subject, and this is the first bad political science class I've had. There are a ton of frat boys and sorority girls in these classes though, which is definitely annoying. They have no idea why they are taking it except they heard you can make money in it (which isn't really true, but I'm not in it for the money). The professors definitely don't give them the same respect they think they deserve, which is entertaining.
This class in particular is one of those bad introductory to political theory classes where they pick someone who needs experience since nobody else wants to teach it. It's going to suck. Hardcore. It isn't going to be hard to pass, just a huge waste of time. If it wasn't required to graduate, I would have withdrawn after the first class.

Sorry if I offended bud! There is an intrinsic difference between "polisci" and "political science," you know what I mean?

Oooh an inside man! You should observe "them" to figure out why "they" study polisci. It baffles me why for the past 20 years "they" have become this archetype of something that could and should actually contribute to society.

One time I was walking by a frat house that was gearing up for a "kegger" and some bro was outside on the phone...something along the lines of "Bro, I just want to drink beers, fuck chicks and study polisci" actually came out of his mouth.

No offense taken. I know that there is a bad connotation with it anymore.

Haha, that would be a little dull. There's nothing about them worth observing.
Kentucky has some of the worst ones too. So many kids with rich parents, super conservative (they don't know why though), and just following whatever the douchebag style of the year is (currently a nautical theme even though it is a landlocked state).

Go to salary.com, plug in all of your education, experience, any other credentials and what the job title is. It will give you a salary range for that job in your part of the country. Take the highest end of the salary scale and use that as your starting point, then they'll negotiate it down a bit. That's what I did with my most recent job search, and I ended up getting a job making about the 80% mark in that range.

If this is a question on an application, you also don't necessarily need to give them a number. You can even turn the question back on them; tell them you'd want something competitive for someone with your level of education, experience, etc. in the industry, and ask what that range would be at their company. If you give them a specific number and start out asking for too much, it could reflect badly on you, and you also don't want to ask for too little, since they might give it to you.

Yeah sorry, I sometimes forget that this isn't a given to most people. It's generally not a good idea to get into specific numbers with a potential employer until late in the process, hopefully after the interview, when you know they're actually interested in you. And avoid giving past salary numbers at all, if you can get around it. The only purpose for them to ask that info is to use it to lowball you.

Since when do you have to go to the customer service counter to buy razors? WHAT IN THE FUCK.

Also, having a presentation first thing Tuesday morning = no way I can avoid working this weekend.

I've made a huge mistake moving back in with my family.

My mother projects all of her stress, my sisters and I have no middle ground, my dad drinks every night and spends his time trying to be everyone's friend. The house is far from messy, and my mother will have a fit about how nobody does anything. I feel stressed and sick all the time here. I'm isolated from town and my last couple friends because of the distance.

My parents are constantly arguing, and my sisters are constantly bickering. I can't take this.

But I have no job, and no car, so no way of getting out of this position without couch surfing while school starts next week, which seems really reckless of an idea.

Fucking hell. Add to this equation that my girlfriend (my fucking partner, I go to her whenever shit is wrong, and she does for me) is across the state, and literally busy from 8am-9pm every day this week, because of a volunteer program through her school.

I feel really crushed right now.
