THE BEST NPD EVARSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

Post by Jwar »

SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO awhile back I contact Ryan, Dr. Scientist about a custom job. I was saddened to find that he actually does not do custom work. Very saddened. hahaha. Anyway, after a little bit of coaxing, he agreed to build me an two Elements into one box. I say a little bit of coaxing, but really Ryan is an awesome dude and very approachable! I suggested that maybe I etch the box and then he throw the guts in. So from there I contacted our resident badass Mr. Excane about some graphics. Long story short. My pedal has arrived! ARRIVED AND IS SEXY AS FUCK!

Art work by Jeff, Mr. Excane
Etch-by me
Guts and brains-Mr. Ryan the Science guy

Some awesomeness about this pedal. It is literally like having two Elements side by side with except for the fact that it only has one input and one output. You can stack them or run them independently of each other.

Ryan also made two expression jacks, mix jacks, so that I could sweep one side or the other. I actually tried to use one side with my Hot Hands 3 and one side with my expression pedal. Didn't work out as desired but cause the pedal to go fucking mad!

I'll stop talking now and show you pics.

I actually screwed up on the etch for this. Hah! I forgot the s at the end. So this pedal is now named The Dual Element

Oh man, that's awesome. I've been gasing pretty hard for an Elements lately, might have to go for one soon.

Hah! Someone had to say it I suppose. Not likely though. This one is a keeper.

Right on, Adam, glad it's arrived!

That's funny and cool that the name was a bit of a mistake, I figured it was on purpose and sounded good! *smile*

Here's my pic of it, lit up:
Adam's Dual Element.JPG

Awesome finish!

Adam also made me a kickass Geiger inspired Cosmichorus etch that I'll show off for my first proper CCv3 build. Thanks again!

Now about the expression control situation... a guy just posted something like that yesterday in my forum, does it sound like this?

I think your expression pedal probably has a lug going to ground or either not connected in the normal expression control way. An expression control, when it's a mix like on the Elements, needs 3 connections to replace the 3 connections of the actual mix potentiometer: wet, dry, mix. I think what you're doing is grounding one of them... either grounding one or shorting them together in the wrong way.

It's weird how there's no convention for how an expression control should work.. personally, I think any expression pedal that has a grounded lug is actually a volume pedal and unlikely to work with most expression inputs.

Yea it sounds very similar to that! Hah! But I was actually using the new Source Audio Hot Hands 3 which is a wireless ring receiver. It doesn't seem to want to work with a lot of things.

I do however need a different expression pedal though. I use a Mission one and it seems to act more like a volume pedal than anything. Any good suggestions?

I bet your Mission one has one lug grounded...

I like the Moog EP2 the best but there's lots that work well.. M-Audio, Roland, Ernie Ball, all have gooders, from 20 bucks to 200, but I like the Moog the best. (The M-Audio at 20 stopped working after 2 uses, the EB at 200 is big and heavy and shiny but not as nice of a sweep range as the Moog)
