And that Strategy really was my choice prekidbombdrop. I blathered all over TB for a long time on it.

But.....I should have been looking at a solid state class D amp with headphone jacks from the get go. I need to accept that the awesome days of 16 tubes of glory are over.

But now I'm with I, Galactus. Somebody needs to buy that motherfucking Mesa.

Well fuck.

The Mesa 400+ I sold made it to Australia.....with six power tubes broken, two capacitors busted, and acid all up inside it. I had that bitch packaged so fucking nice, too. Double boxed. Hella strong banana box as the first one. One of the most secure packing jobs I've ever done. The saving grace is that the dude in Australia is cool. He didn't even ask for money, I offered to help pay the bill. But then he told me it was $700!

He went ahead an got all 12 power tubes changed, got the amp all cleaned up, and got the two capacitors changed. Since he swapped out the good tubes, too, he told me he wouldn't let me pay for $400 of it....just $300. But holy shit. I'm thinking he got boned on that repair job. I dunno. Of course, I told him I'd take care of the $300 but asked for a copy of the bill, first. Just to be safe.

And then the Faye Sing I sold made it to its new owner DOA. Thing was two weeks old, double boxed, and neither box had any movement in it. I'm REALLY thankful I sold all of my pedals and am getting out of the Flip Game. Not ending it too well.

Oh man, that sucks. I'm sorry to hear that. I don't know what shipping peeps do with our packages but it doesn't seem as if they care. That thing is heavy too so it's not like they could have thrown it around. Dropped maybe... Did he see any signs of damage to the box before he opend it? Won't insurance help?

It really makes me want to mod my 1960 from Super Lead to Super Bass specs. I looked it up and it's not really all that many changes, just a few little things. God damn

Dude that fucking crazy that you shipped it to Australia! If it was insured...which it should have been. lol, I'd try and make a claim. If not, that sucks. I'd be asking for pics of the damage, a physical copy of the receipt and probably would even e-mail the shop that repaired it.

Also I probably wouldn't pay the guys repair costs. Not trying to say I'm a dick or anything, but if he wanted you to ship something like that across the world, he took the risk.

Shit Sousie. SHIT. That's maddening. I know the chick who delivers my mail (god knows what people do in the warehouse(s)) just LITERALLY doesn't even bend down to drop things off - up to the stairs and just a drop and immediate turn around/ walk away. She's nice to me when I see her and run out there to get my stuff, but damn that pissed me off. SO sorry man. That should not have happened at all dude. My story is like...a bowl of whipped cream compared to a bowl of chopped asphalt.

So....crazy update. I told him I'd take care of him but I'd need to see some pics and an invoice. He sent me these:

I'm just.....not....seeing $700 worth of damage there.....or really ANY damage other than that one tube.....and no bill. So on Sunday I told him I'd really like to see the invoice before I sent him the money, he said he'd get it......haven't heard back, since.

I guess I'll see what's up. I was stupid and didn't send the tubes the way I should have. So if he produces something, I'm pretty obligated to cover it....we'll see.

Yeah, I was pretty stupid in not doing insurance. I've shipped international quite a bit (not a tube amp, though) and insurance is a TON....I try to hook my fellow bassists/fuzzers up. And then I try to keep the customs claim pretty low, too.....it hasn't bit me, yet. This is the experience where I say "no more international shipping". Learned my lesson. It's like Russian Roulette.

Really sorry to hear about your hassles on shipping to Oz. A bunch of us Aussies really appreciate the effort people go to to send stuff down here and I ordinarily say something like "I accept the risk" in pms because at the end of the day, it only takes one dickhead in the postal chain to be careless and then you have problems. I've had stuff go wrong in posting to the US in the past too - including an Alleva Coppolo bass that just magically disappeared...and then showed up on eBay 4 weeks later.

The reason I'm posting is we also have a bass community here called Ozbass where most guys are pretty legit. It's just a collective of players like we have here but I find they are generally experienced at buying stuff overseas and very low bullshit. A bunch of them are on Talkbass too. Pm me the guy's user name and if I know him and he's legit, I'll let you know. It's only an off chance kind of thing but im hoping I can help. $700 for those photos doesn't look good to me but as an Aussie who cares about being fair and honest on this international stuff, I wanted to offer help if I can.
