Ambient Musics

Anyone into modern ambient?

Here's a few of my favorites:

Jasper TX:

Wixel:
Here from a part of his 2009 project where he released a full album every month for the entire year.

Instant sleep aid. Knocks me out every time.

Benn Jordan's not bad.

If you want that spacemusik the EVE Online soundtrack is actually pretty cool.

This seems to maybe be a different kind of ambient than you're talkin' about, Idunnolol. I'll try to remember some more after I wake up.
Mmm...Ben Frost?

Love me some Hammock, but left them off my list because they seem really song-based to me, whereas I think of ambient as more textural. That "EVE Online" track is greeaaaat.

Got any suggestions of where to start with Lustmord? It seems alright, but I prefer my ambient musics to be less about fear and pending doom, which seems to be his forte.

check out "Glass Throat Recordings"

They have a great Ambient/Drone label. Lot's of great bands on there.
I've been into Sacrificial Totem and La Monte Young lately, don't know if you're familiar.

As far as Lustmord goes, I listen to the "Transmuted" release a lot, you're right though... definitely on the darker side.

I've been checking out Barn Owl and We Inherit the Moon - both have some pretty great stuff and I'm looking forward to getting to know them better! Thanks for the heads up. :thumb:

Anduin is a good friend of mine and past co-worker!

I think everyone should check out Oren Ambarchi, as well as Stephen O'Malley's collaboration with Z'ev

Rad! Well, please pass along my extreme compliments in that disc with Jasper TX. I will have to dig deeper into his solo catalogue.

Checked out some of that Oren and O'Malley stuff - very good, and it seems like there's a lot to wade through from both. Any specific albums?

Oren Ambarchis record with Keith Rowe is awesome. If you want more minimal than that try Toshimaru Nakamura.

Barn Owl are good, but I like the stuff these guys make on their own better. Check out Higuma, that is the best out of that stable in my opinion.
