I'm bummed. My good friend (and killer drummer) has taken a job up in DC, so he's moving next week. Our wives got along super well, and he was one of the best post-rock drummers I've ever heard. This job is really good for him, but it's just a bummer that he's leaving.

On the other hand, my wife has fallen in love with DC, so we may follow him up in the next few years.

My phone finally stopped charging completely so now I need to take it into the store and hope they can reattach the port to the motherboard. Apparently it happens fairly often, but people get mixed results on repairs at stores.

I had a decent night, saw Ted (which was good). For some reason, I just feel like complete shit, though. I don't know why, I just feel terrible. I feel really fucking terrible.

You'd think after countless times I'd learn my lesson, but nooooo I always have to shove the pizza in my mouth right away and burn the shit out of the roof of it.

Gotta work 3-1:30 tonight. And it's going to be BUSY AS FUCK. 4th of July parade + fireworks will bring in soooo many customers especially since the weather is perfect and it was supposed to be a hell of a lot hotter this weekend.

what i always did in these situations when working restaurants on holidays etc.:

1. get my reefa on before i got to work.
2. get there like a half-hour early.
3. drink hella coffee, like 2 or 3 cups at least, before start time.
4. made sure to help get any backlog sorted before my shift started so i didn't start from behind.
5. get my Muhammad Ali psych on...PUMP IT UP. decide that i was the baddest motherfucker in a restaurant today, and could nail any motherfucking thing.
6. continue caning caffeine beverages as needed to keep me hypomanic until i could get done and go home and fall down.

I would do that but caffeine doesn't seem to do anything for me anymore... This deserves to be in this thread, because over the past year coffee hasn't helped me get through the day, shit sucks!

Small bar & grill kitchen. It'll be me and one (maybe two) other cooks. But it just happens to be on the main intersection of a small town and has a patio. So it'll be a little crazy. We've been doing pretty damn well on weekends lately.

Yeah, I think I'll be fine. At least it's a long shift that should go by quickly. And I can load up on caffeine for sure.
