In August, I'm doing a run of the Rocky Horror Show (feat. Fee Waybill of the Tubes as the good Dr.) and as such, needed something that could give me a slightly overdriven, stereotypical "rock" tone. Talked to Dennis at ProTone Pedals, and ended up settling on a Buzzard Overdrive...in neon yellow. If you haven't seen his neon pedal enclosures, they're completely ripped out of the 80s with how bright and obnoxious they are. Fiddled with the pedal a couple of times and love it. It does the subtle thing (which is what I wanted) really well and just sounds great. Here's a YT vid I made last night.
Let me know what you think of the overall vid; I tried some new things and was using a program from a company a buddy works for.

Thanks, I tried something different recording-wise.
Instrument --> Pedal --> Apogee Jam Digital Interface --> iPad
I used the Apogee Jam to record directly into the iPad and then used the video camera on the thing for the vid. The only problem with this is that for some reason, I cannot get any audio out (either from the speakers or using the headphone jack) when I used the Jam in this fashion. There are no problems when I'm using it with a MUSIC program, so I may have to look and see if there's a setting or something that I can tweak in order to get it squared away.

It sounds pretty good, although I don't really like "subtle". Still, I think its cool you get the opportunity to use a pedal for a pit gig like that. A buddy of mine was playing bass for a production of Pippin (if you have to see it, just watch the first half), and he showed me the music. There was a part that said "Hit the string so hard it gets fuzzy." Theater people amuse me in how little they know about how music works, yet they expect so so much.

You're going to have to explain that a bit, given that in my experience (10-12 shows a year for 7 years straight) it seems to be a little different than what you describe.

My limited dealings with them, at my college, is that they expect everyone to do everything for them for free. But its a bunch of prima donnas at my school. I'm sure once you go into the real world, its much more professional. Or my school doesn't have a good theater program.

No, many the younger actors think the world revolves around them (especially in the college theatre program in town). The Equity theatre I play at (equity = professional actors) have a lot of younger interns that start out with that mentality and then for one reason or another actually grow up and realize everyone working has a huge part in the production.

I've noticed that the people who are actually good at acting, act like normal people outside of the theater department, where as the people who aren't very good act like they're on stage 24/7, and I mean that in a bad way.
Anyway, hopefully we can get some recordings of your show so we can hear this bad boy in action.

I know what you mean. It all depends on the person really; I've met some super humble professionals and some that I think "It's a good thing you're a great actor." Same thing with up-and-comers.
We'll see about the recording. Normally that stuff is tied up in copyrights so you can't distribute a recording of it (or really make one). However, the Artist Rep I deal with at Seymour-Duncan is a huge Rocky Horror fan so we're looking to try and score her a copy of it once it's up and running.
