Attention any DIY builders: could you build this for me?

Post by captions87 »

Hey all. The other guitarist in my band currently plays a rig consisting of an EHX English Muff'n to use as a slightly dirty preamp/boost, and an MXR classic overdrive for low/mid type gain parts. The Muff'n sounds great, but the specialty power supply, tube maintenance, and size make it a real PITA sometimes. I'd like to get him a preamp type pedal that has a para EQ like the Muff'n. It doesn't NEED a mid knob, per se, but at least a bass and treble control, as well as input and output gain knobs. Now what I'd REALLY like is to combine this with a dirty-ish type boost, like an SHO or LPB-1 with a master volume, so that he can replace the two pedals with one uberpedal. He's not much of a pedalhead/tweaker, but likes the EQ shaping options of the Muff'n, and I feel like the 2-in-1 pedal would be simpler and easier to get great tones out of. Any takers? :!!!:

Not to sound TGPish, but what you described sounds like a Tim.

Yeah, that's what I was afraid of. I had thought maybe a diy build would end up cheaper than a Tim, hence the inquiry.

$170 isn't that much. I don't know about other builders here, but I would charge that or more for a custom pedal with similar specs. There are other medium gain pedals with boost and tone controls though...

You could also try the Lovepedal Amp 11 if you prefer supporting douches over cool people.

A handbuilt pedal with those kind of parameters? Ya.......get a Tim. You'd have to be pretty unenthused about your work to sell it for much cheaper as a builder.

For a while I had a Sonic Titan/SHO Clone built by stupid dream 88 it was pretty close to what you are looking for.

Although if I had an opportunity to get one built it would be Sonic Titan/Red rooster
Think It's just a tone knob but it sounded great
