Re: THE BEER THREAD(?)----->!!!

I'll say it: This beer is TOO MUCH.
I like my hoppy beers, in fact they are my favourite, but this, well, while the hop bitterness is tolerable, the sweetness is not. It's REALLY sweet. It took me an hour and a half casual sipping (whilst reading; a beer and a book I do every night) to finish one bottle.
Hopslam is the quintessential Double IPA... this one is just overkill.

I've actually been trying pale ales lately. I had New Glarus' Moon Man the other night and really enjoyed it. Had a Sierra Nevada (regular kind) just now and thought it was just ok, not amazing. Anybody have any recommendations for good hoppy beers?

It's one of those beers that you like when you first try it but get sick of it.
I loved it at first, but it became syrupy sweet after a while.
A long time ago, in a galaxy far far away, God said, "Let there be Lips!" And there were, and they were good, and the lips said...

Re: THE BEER THREAD(?)----->!!!
seconding twohearted as the best IPA overall.
why?
-easy to find
-good price/alcohol ratio
-doesn't really taste bad or change taste too much
-not too hoppy for casual drinking
-its Bells. they dont make bad beer

The other day I was telling a friend of mine about Red Racer and how the lcbo rarely carries it. Went there yesterday and to my surprise it was in stock! Currently enjoying their ipa.

Re: THE BEER THREAD(?)----->!!!
During my trip to San Francisco over the weekend I discovered Anchor Steam, and I really enjoyed it. I've got a six pack chilling in the fridge right now, soon I'll find out if I like it as much when it's not from an open bar at a wedding.
Until then I'm drinking some Inversion IPA, not bad but a little overly hoppy for my liking.
