I don't think it's out yet...or was only out for a short period and went under the radar

No personal experience, but per FSB it's a germ fuzz face with IC buffers on input and output. Supposed to help some of the problematic behaviors (like working with a wah) at the cost of some of the classic character. There are some mod ideas over there.

These had been dirt cheap on the used market when they came out, though I haven't kept up with the current pricing. You might be as happy getting a DIY fuzz face kit from GGG or BYOC if you do DIY. The compact sized FF-ish circuit might be cool if you've got a tight pedal board. For visual aesthetics, though, lots of people like even crap versions in the saucer cases, since they can always drop in a new circuit.

I have the standard MXR Classic fuzz. It's decent. I like how malleable it can be with the volume pot on the guitar. Like somebody mentioned, the buffer function makes it work well with a wah, but it takes away some of the uninhibited fuzzticity. It's not a wild n' crazy fuzz, but it gets the job done without sucking up tone.

There's a reason why it went under the radar and was discontinued quickly.

Because people are actually realizing that getting gear with their favorite guitarist's name on it won't actually make them sound like that guitarist?

No, that can't be it. People would need to be smart if that were the case.

I seem to remember one of the Sonic Youth folks had this on their board (pre or post gear theft I am not sure)......

I really want a fuzz face clone but I do not want something that says Jimi Hendrix on it, something about that gives me the willies.......

Sonic youth have the Dunlop Jimi octave fuzz on their boards, it's a similar style but black/ dark grey. Sounds pretty awesome with OD or a boost in front of it.

I bought one of these pedals in early 2000 and it is my most used and favorite fuzz pedal. It is very transparent and usable fuzz that can sound really huge and mean when cranked. I was given another one of these pedals that was bought in 2008(receipt was in the box) and it didn't have the mojo of the first one i bought so i opened them both up and noticed that dunlop put different germanium's in the newer pedal. The older pedal has real branded nte transistors and the newer one has nte in thick black letters and they have a slightly different shape to them(not the same). So i guess that's why some people really like this pedal and some people don't. Too bad they were inconsistent with the parts because the older version is really fantastic ( Oh ya, these pedals look exactly the same on the outside)
