Cleaning your Pedalboard/Pedals

Post by Schlatte »

How do you guys/do you clean your boards/pedals? I usually just vacuum the board and swipe the pedals with a moist cloth. But not every time I clean, just like.. every time I clean and the board looks dirty/dusty. :idk:
If I get a pedal used or in a trade or buy an old pedal and it's dirty, I usually take the knobs off and clean it with a very soft brush and maybe a soft, small towel.

I have one of my many servants reverently lick them clean, thrice a day.

.. actually no I just sometimes give the pedals an odd dusting with one of my larger paintbrushes, whenever I think to.

um... not very often or systematically. I can't even answer that, I don't know if I have cleaned my pedals

Haven't had much need to be honest.I have just recently got the bad habit of using them without putting them back to their own boxes or under the pedalboard case lid immediately after playing.

Swiffer works like magic for the dust and particles in the hard to reach areas of the pedals themselves (between knobs, etc.) and vacuuming underneath the board helps keep the area tidy.

Some of you fuckers need to pay attention to this thread! I'm tired of getting pedals in trades that smell like booze and cigarettes! Savages!!!!!!!! :)

I tend to leave my board sitting out, so it gets super dusty, and when I can't take how dusty it is anymore I dust it. Never get any dirt on any of my pedals though, I'm pretty careful about it.

I just use the the non-abrasive rags like you might get with shoe polish, or even with "fast-fret" if you are a pussy and use that shit. I also like those moppish looking dust gloves for almost everything, but the rag lets you get between knobs. I'll admit I'm generally careless about this stuff, but my pedals are certainly more dust-free than my bedroom.

I bought an el cheapo hand held vacuum. I use that with a thin brushy nozzle to vacuum my board. Prolly should do the moist cloth thing.

You do not "clean" pedals - You stomp on them..... HARD. The more force, the better.

They should be nicely bruised, battle-scarred, and road-worn.

Let the blood, dirt, dust, semen, and shit forever tell a story of where the pedal has been....what it's conquered....the women it has raped.... and the horses that it stole.

But if there are stains of goat worship you should wash those off. Gotta draw the line somewhere.
