I have very limitedly played one (in GC). My EB that I already have is a HSS. Lots of Tones. I am famliar with the preamp (same as my 25th annniversary) and it isn't too hot for effects (like Bongo's sometimes can be), love the active/passive option. The neck is more like a jazz neck and that is my only concern but I adapt to basses pretty quickly. If the neck is too much of a deal breaker I have a trade already lined up for a sweet Bongo. I figure either way I am coming out like a champ. I only am paying $950 for the bass and it is at the least worth $1300+ used. It is a black and maple model. If it sticks around I am going to try and get a clear pickgaurd so I can do Custom Pics underneath the Gaurd.

Jeez...$950? Slip and fall!

Nut width in general doesn't bother me too much...both of my Schecters are 1 1/2" at the nut, but I have large hands/long fingers and a wider P-bass'ish nut width is still comfortable for me.

I am thinking of Pinky and the Brain theme for some etching fun.

well, i actually need a second hot hand. if you haven't committed to anybody yet i'll take it.

and i, also, am looking forward to the next smaller version. i only use it for the wobble pretty much.

lol. no worries. just something i need before we start gigging. controllers like that i always charge both, keep one all the way charged, then use the other until it quits so i can swap 'em and always have a back up. i'm just keeping an eyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyye out for a good deal for a bit, then will get more serious about finding one when we're ready to play out.

The Hot Hand is supposed to work as an expression pedal-like thingy, right? I've read a bit about it but haven't paid a lot of attention to it.

Question - anyone know anything about the Sunn SR8200 mixer? There's one up on or Craig's for $50 and while I don't really have a need for such right now, I'm wondering if this may be worth picking up anyway for future use, just in case.

JMO, Behndy makes the HH looks 10x more awesome than it is. It just couldn't translate to my style of playing at all. But if you are good with the left hand (lots of hammers and tapping) it's amazing....kind of a gimmick otherwise.

I am sorta decent with hammering, but good tapping still needs some work.

Yeah, my hammers are pretty alright. Tapping is a totally foreign concept to me, except for making noise.

it's interesting. it IS pretty "Look At MEEEEE" theatrical, but i'm a little used to kinda being the focal point at gigs. nit COMFORTABLE with it, but i do a fair bit.... and all ze pedalz....

but naw. i don't think it has to look douchey. i haven't played out with it yet (SOOOOON. gawd i miss gigging. we have about 30 minutes of music pretty much ready and we're gonna look at a studio that'll hook us up with mad cheap recording (defo want an ep dl'able/on a cd before shows happen) next weekend, so... soon i hope), but i think it looks more interesting than silly. i hope.

d'awwwww! you the SWEETEST little guy! dood. it's a TOTAL gimmick. but i love the (relatively) small range of stuff it does that an exp pedal doesn't. we just got some stuff worked out with it, and it is NICE.

i kinda suck at the tappings. for me, i only like the BEF with the HH if i'm WAY more playing the pedal than doing loads of notey things into it. simple 3 or 4 note melodies with wobbley wobbley shits works the good.

urrrrrm... if that makes no sense i'll clean it up tomorrow. i'm pretty fucking opiated out right now. writing beats and making noise over them is the PERFECT complement to the frame of mind i'm in. i'm not in the happiest spot right now, so Angry Loudin's is helpful.

that, or renting a voluptuous hooker of indeterminate gender for No Penetration Cuddlings. but one that's into Aphex or Squarepusher.

i DO have standards.

TB MADNESS.
DharmaShawn got ripped off on a bass trade. Here is an insane thread that I have been refreshing, and following as it unfolds. Sure there is some douchebaggery and sidetracking but the whole story as it unfolds is pretty wild.
