Whammy bass dives -> mtn range -> subtle, short delay

Or, if I'm feeling funky, put all that in Chk Chk Boom. Mmmmm.

The FAC OFF is a fucking SICK doom fuzz, possibly the sickest. Oh wait, the FAC OFF v2 is the sickest! You need to play this beast to truly understand...... ;)

So, a serious question that I feel is appropriate here:

What fuzz would you say would get close to the sound of Electric Wizard's Dopethrone album? I mean other than the FZ-2, as much as I'd like one. My Swollen Pickle gets close but isn't as grind-y.

FZ-2 is a superfuzz variant if that helps.

A little bit yes.

*sigh* I'm finally going to cave and get an octave fuzz it seems.

You say that as if you shouldn't already have octave fuzzes. Thought about an Upper yet?

Never found one that didn't make me want to drop-kick my amplifier. And no, I can't really explain it.

Dude, for real, get an FZ-2. It's not even funny how reliant their tone is on that one pedal. It is exactly that sound. And, it has more low end and oomph than the average Superfuzz. Like, I've side by side compared it with a Wattson FY-6 (extreeeeemly faithful clone), and it just makes the FY-6 sound devoid of balls.

Yeah if you want the Electric Wizard tone, the FZ-2 is an awesome and relatively inexpensive choice

This 100%!! If you want Dopethrone toanz, other pedals may get you close but the FZ-2 IS the tone. Managed to pick one up about 3yrs ago for €20. I was lucky, but don't think they're particulary expensive elsewhere, especially amongst those who have no idea who Electric Wizard even are.

well, the dopethrone guitar sound is an fz-2 on mode 2, which is a very scooped superfuzz sound sans octave up effects. when i had this pedal, it also brought psychocandy to mind...

but it also has this grindy ring mod overtone too, making chords nigh impossible to play. good for single note stuff and power chords. it sounds fucking killer though.

you guys should try the barber trifecta fuzz. the big muff mode is pretty terrible, but the two tonebender modes are fucking sick. barking midrange and sitar-buzz decay with maaaaasssssiiiive low end. it even has a knob for sludge :omg:
