Bands that were on heavy rotation for me in the mid to late 90's.

That was After I found out how bad Metallica Sucked live.

True Story time. I was a huge Metallica fan,...had all the albums up till the Black Album,...including imports and bootlegs,...The Book,...3 or 4 posters,...tons of T-Shirts. I bought Load when it came out and was like WTF?

Never got to see them live until after Load came out. Load was a horrible album,...and the live show they put together for that tour,...took all the songs I wanted to hear and turned them into a medley (songs off of Master of Puppets,...Ride the Lightning,...and Kill Em All). Lost interest in em after that.

I still like the old stuff,...but they have never been the same. I'm glad they did what they did in the 80's and 90's and influenced some good bands; but they ceased to be relevant when the money became more important.

I saw Metallica on the Black Album tour, thank god! They played all the old stuff I wanted to hear. It was about 2 1/2 hours of bliss. Yeah, Metallica has pretty much sucked since Load. Man, Megadeth put on an AWESOME show last week, I mean vocals were spot on and everything, of course the music was great but I was wondering if Dave could still pull of the vocals. Thanks goodness 90% of that show was from Rust in Peace and earlier.

It's kinda funny....I liked the Black Album. I won't lie, I still do. ....And Justice was my favorite.....but you can look back on it, now, and as good the Black Album is.....you can see that it's the beginning of the downward slide.

It happends with all musicians as they get older. I LOVED Ozzy. I still think Ozmossis was his best album....but, again, the beginning of the downward slide. It's like they poop out their golden nugget right before it all goes to shit.

I saw Metallica once, and at (of all places) a Bridge School Benefit...Metallica acoustic is a different experience. A bunch of drunk high-schoolers near our spot (festival 'seating') kept yelling for 'Enter Sandman', and when the band did play it, they didn't recognize it.

Metallica was one of the first "big" shows I ever saw (think I was maybe 14) and at the time it was the loudest, most badass thing I had ever seen.

I never got into anything as much as Kill 'em All. People think I'm crazy, but Kill 'em and the black album are pretty much all I dig.

I got into the much heavier death metal shit shortly after, so that kinda obliterated anything that was less than BROOTAL

lulz. first show i went to (that was my choice) as a kicken, i was like 13 or so was Metallica during thr Justice For All tour with Faith No More opening. i was a HUGE Metallica fan, they're from my hood and Cliff Burton and Les Claypool are why i started playing bass.... and Metal'lika was OKAY, but FNM blew me AWAY.

and nobody knew them, so there were a bunch of methed out meat heads that kept boo'ing them. 'cause Patton was wearing a dive suit with flippers and a snorkel when he came out. same idiots that LOVE FNM SO MUCH now.

that show is what made me stop liking thrash and start getting into stuff like FNM and Afx and Tori Amos and PJ Harvey.

I was a huge Metallica fan. My brother gave me a bad taped copy of Master of Puppets when I was like 8 or so, and I fucking loved it. Then Justice came out, and I thought it was so intensely awesome. Then I waited with baited breath for the Black Album. When it came out , I was crushed. It sounded like a totally different band. It wasn't fast, it wasn't really all that heavy. There were a few decent songs on it (Holier than Thou, Through the Never, Of Wolf and Man, Struggle Within), but most of it was just so poppy and meh. I was hoping that was just their "sell-out" album, and then they'd get back to the metal. Then Load came out. I was done. Oh well, I'm still happy that they gave me their first 4 albums, which I still love to this day.

I saw them once, and got to feel the tsunami of hate when I heard the "Justice Medley". Really? Thanks, guys.

I saw Metallica on their Master of Puppets tour. They introduced Jason and he did a little solo. Metal Church opened and it was the last show on the tour. Both bands kept fucking with each other and seemed to be having a good time. Towards the end of the show, the dudes in Metal Church came out on pogo sticks and were screwing around. Haha A couple launched into the crowd... Good times. Saw Faith No More when the opened for Billy Idol (I was there to see FNM but Idol put on a good show). Loudest band was Slayer at the Moore Theatre. Damn that was loud...

Luckily I saw Metallica open for Ozzy on the Master of Puppets tour a few weeks before Cliff died.
They crushed so awesomely I can't even begin to explain. They opened with side 1 of M.O.P before they stopped for James to say Hi.
That was the most I've been blown away at a show. 40,000 people all headbanging in unison.

Funny story....

Me and a friend were walking downtown in the village (second year in college, 1997). We pick up a village voice and start flipping through the pages to see FNM is playing that night up at Roseland. I had never seen them, my friend had already seen them twice. I say "let's go uptown, I'm sure we can get tickets" He says "nah, I just saw then like 3 months ago - they'll be back around"

3 months later they fucking break up.

Fast forward 13 years to summer of 2010. I saw them on BOTH nights in Brooklyn on the watefront, and my buddy had moved to LA.

Waited 13 years for that shit, and 2 of the best concerts EVAAAA
