Good Alternative Rock Bands

I'm on the hunt for new bands who have a sound similar to bands like Brand New (last two albums), The Pillows, Garbage, Deftones, Sparta, Trip Fontaine, etc. Pretty much dark, heavy, weird lyrics, atmospheric, melodic rock. I know that is an insane description but hopefully you catch my drift.

They're more on the metal than rock side, but they've got a progressive / alternative thing going on. They're like if The Ocean made alternative music.

Also check Failure (fantastic planet one of the best alternative albums)

Oceansize (Frames, start with that album)

The Felix Culpa, is an awesome band, i highly recommend it

Love Failure. I think they were way ahead of their time. Definitely worth checking out.

Excellent... Failure and Hum. "Fantastic Planet", "Magnified", and "Comfort" by the former, "Downward Is Heavenward", "You'd Prefer An Astronaut", and "Electra 2000" by the latter.

All six of those albums are some of my very favourites EVER. A HUGE part of my musical growth in the 90s.

Such a great record. I was fortunate to see them live before they split and damn, they were so great.
