Help me buy a distortion/overdrive for the heavyz
Helloo friends. Right now I have a tele with high output p90s and a fender twin reverb with some nice speakers that retain clarity and low-end. The fender has a a non-linear transformer, meaning that it has almost no break up even at dangerous volumes, which makes it GREAT for pedals.
My dirt section consists of BAT Pharoh, timmy, and a DLS (thinking of replacing it with a WIIO). I can get some really heavy sounds, but I'm looking to find a more saturated/gritty yet articulate tone a la cursed, converge, unsane. I.e. I need to be able to palm mute too but not in a 80's metal way.
Any recommendations, either as a stand alone or something that would stack well with what I have? Right now i'm interested in the BAT black forest, a D*A*M sonic titan clone, catalinbread SCOD (maybe too mcuh gain?), and even a EQD monarch.

I'm sure I won't be the only person to say it, but a Dr Scientist Elements sounds like it'd fit both your needs and current setup quite perfectly!
I actually tried a Fender Twin today.. Ear-splittingly loud (not a bad thing if that's what you're after!), you're not wrong about the lack of break-up 'til crazy volumes.

Good deals with: PumpkinPieces, maz91379, allicio, nelsinian, tomlane95, casperh7, insubordination, bronzetalon

I really think you should try out a monarch if you have a chance to, I really liked it for those types of tones.

Re: Help me buy a distortion/overdrive for the heavyz
Thanks for the replies everyone! Awesome suggestions and pedals I haven't even thought of. I think I may have to go on a pedal buying splurge and sell the ones I don't like. NDominy sent me his OCD clone as a trade, I completely forgot about that and it came in today. Not a fan of how it sounds alone, but stacked with the DLS it sounds HEAVY AS FUCK. Total mastodon city'.
SO many rats (clones and otherwise) to choose from
. I was hoping to sort of avoid the rat, to try something with a different flavour (i.e. not too marshally). Maybe i'm wrong, but the OCD/DLS combo sort of covers a similar ground?
Anyways, keep on coming with the suggestions

Avoid the SCOD. Cool pedal on it's own but quite bright, not very versatile and does not seem to play well with others...
Special low-frequency version.

You want an elements. It covers every ground, plays well with everythings, and it looks cool.
The only downside is you can only use one t0an at a time.

Sonic Titan sounds good for your uses.
That is, only because you don't want a Rat.
WHY OH WHY DO YOU NOT WANT A RAT
