last Non Pedal Derail Factoid - in SF there was a comic store called Comic Relief. in the bathroom there were doodles from all the different artists that visited or did a sighning there. Mignola was buds with the owner. one time the owner came out of the bathroom and asked Mignola, "what's that young devil thing you drew? with the big hand?". Mignola - "i dunno. just a doodle. Devil Baby or Hell Guy i guess. dunno.". Owner - "huh. cool image. you should use that mebbe.".

when Comic Relief moved to Berkeley owner dude had them remove that wall in one piece and it's at his house. has the first sketch of Hell Boy EVAH. pretty durn cool.
