Tweak Fuzz Love?

Post by stilwel »

There is surprisingly little talk about this pedal on the forum. I really love it. The 5-way tone knob gives you such a wide variety of sounds. I like mine set to the 2nd position from the left. It really cuts thru in this mode.

the Duncan? it seemed pretty cool when I looked at one, and i think i even considered it once. but once i pulled the trigger on an algal bloom, i covered pretty much all of my fuzzy (and even some overdriven) tones. as for versatility tho, i'm sure it's a nice pedal. plus i think you can get them at super reasonable prices

I have one, I really like it, but it's kinda quiet. The output volume is really low, until about 3 'o' clock. But the fancy "tweak" tone rotary know is really cool. It's kinda grainy, not like an 8 bit fuzz, but a 16 bit fuzz, if that makes sense. the two main uses are a super heavy bassy uzz for Black Sabbath, and Smashing Pumpkins, or an extremely light fuzz that acts more as a lo-fi filter of sorts. It's a cool pedal, I wouldn't pay $100 for it, It's just a fancy fuzz face/superfuzz, but I got it as a gift, so :joy: .

Yep, the Seymour Duncan pedal.

I got mine for $35 I think. They are super-cheap and are a really great sounding fuzz face variant.

I agree on the low output though. They need to be goosed up a bit....but I really like the sound of it.

I got a second when they started selling them for $40. There are easy mods to increase volume. The main-board circuit is a silicon-transistor Fuzz Face, not at all bad stock, but built to mod incredibly easily. The tone switch changes the input capacitor, a really handy way to get a lot of different fuzz dynamics out of one pedal.

It is probably a bit too pedestrian for most of the ILF hardcore, but it doesn't suck and it stacks pretty well with my other fuzz. If you don't like it, futz with rebuilding it as your fave boutique FF variant, like the DAM Meathead.
